I have limited information on him, most of what I know is from when he was busy getting kicked out of BC.

But at 6'10" 240 being a very good athlete and shot blocker....wouldn't bringing him back be a smart move?

Does anyone here know anything more about him? Obviously his NBA career has been almost non existent to this point but his resume reads like a HOF compared to someone like Steamer (up until last year) who came in and provided some help.

Everyone says how "smart" he is, if that is true you would think he could at least be a defensive factor and rebound.

Can anyone increase confidence in his ability or add anything to completely remove this thought from my head?

I am sure the reason thy signed him at the end of the season was with the thought to bring him back.  They didn't expect him to play in the playoffs.  They just wanted to give him an extended tryout.

As for whether he can play, I have never been a fan of his, he just is not a smart basketball player.  But, stranger things have happened, and you can't teach what he has.

Check out his highlights from his first couple of years, the kid can play. He had some issues with attitude apparently a few years ago, but playing in Boston is PERFECT for this kid. We can help maximize his potential and I guarantee playing alongside these guys in the playoffs, something rubbed off on him. He could be a complete STEAL and a perfect running mate for Rondo. Also, saw some highlights of him playing alongside JaJuan Johnson...that combo could be special. Add Jeff Green to it next year...ya you get it.

If he could develop that mid range jump shot that Big Baby did, and Bass perfected, he'd have a real shot. Of course the question seems to be, is he really dedicated to the game?

Yeah, I agree about the dedication question seeing the talent level he has and his inability to stick anywhere to this point. But when I hear the same things about players in the draft, like a Fab Melo or someone with similar knocks it makes me wonder if I would prefer Danny roll the dice with Williams and use the draft pick on something beside size with questionable work ethic.

Wish we had gotten any nuggets regarding his performance from Doc/Danny, but with no practices and him jumping in right before the playoffs started, they may not even have a real good feel for him.

The ability is there but the problems are between the ears.

According to Shamsports, he has a non-guaranteed contract for next year for about $916K (this is essentially a team option).  I don't see any reason not to pick this up (actually they would need to waive him).  He is well worth this amount of risk.  He didn't play much but I saw flashes of an athletic big man.  I predict he is on the team and plays a role next year.

This. I'd also add: can run with Rondo and play above the rim.

It seems totally ridiculous to have to say it, but it doesn't matter if Sean can play or not.  Once Doc has it in his mind that he's not part of the core group, he's not playing... period...end of discussion.  It wasn't until Ray Allen got hurt that Bradley cracked the starting line up.  And, proved to be a better fit with the starters.  Same thing happened with Ryan Gomes.  If it hadn't been for an injury to Perkins, Gomes might have left the Celtics as a total unknown...at least to Doc.

yes, that has been THE limiting factor on his nba career. tons of talent, lots of stupidity.

a poster above said the celtics signed him in hopes of NEXT year, not this year. i agree. for williams training camp will be the deciding factor in his future as a celtics i think.

if he can show he has matured and is ready to be an nba player mentally, the celtics will have to make a place for him. he is too talented to turn away....assuming his brain does not occupy space in close proximity to his rectum.

gee, will the profanity filter let this one through?  ;D

He certainly has always had issues between the ears.

But I will say this he is 100 times better than Ryan Hollins.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
He has a reputation around the league as an extremely intelligent basketball player. He understands sets and offenses very quickly. He's got a great Bball IQ and IQ in general but has a laziness factor that doesn't bode well for an NBA player.

It would appear that he and Rondo are becoming good friends- too which means he might play over summer with Rajon which can only be good for him (but perhaps not for Rondo's maturity.)
Here's hoping
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Is Rondo really that much of a problem player? He seems to be stubborn but doesn't seem like a trouble maker. I think KG and co. really rubbed off on him.

Pretty much this.  As we found out this year, you can never have enough guys 6'9" or taller who can jump, rebound, block shots, dunk...because KG can barely still dunk.
