In the playoffs Pierce shot something like26% on FG attempts past 10 feet(WEEI) and fouled out of 3 or 4 games I believe. Yes he hit a clutch shot in game 5 against Miami, but lets not pretend he was very good....

Plus this is the guy coaching the Lakers

If they had a real coach he would have know to get Pau the ball down low instead of the high post every time

What makes matter worse is Gasol has toxic deal. 15% trade kicker would make him 2nd 3rd highest paid player in the NBA behind Kobe &  Rashard Lewis.

A declining skillset+toxic contract=untradable

He's only got two more years and is a top 10 big man easily.

Toxic contract gets thrown around more than it should.

You'd (Any GM) be an idiot to pay 2 years $22mil+ for Gasol. 37% of cap for Pau Gasol hell no.

Why not?

If you're trying to win a title in the next two years what better players are available with that cap space?

Pau Gasol if moved to the C position and not forced to space the floor for another big like Bynum is still an all-NBA caliber player. There are only 15-25 guys like that on this planet tops, most of them aren't available.

This isn't the NFL where you need deep rosters with lots of bodies to win a title. Were the Celtics idiots for how much the paid KG?

He was just on Dennis and Callahan. He said he asked around the leeague what they Lakers should do and a bunch of them said they would trade Pau Gasol for PP .

I don't think the lakers would do it straight up because Gasol is a few years younger, but if you add Bass in a s+t I thinks it makes a lot of sense .

Bucher said this would leave the c's with a lineup of

PG: Rondo
SG: Bradley
SF: Green
PF: Gasol
 C: KG

Very interesting Idea, but I highly doubt it happens

The Lakers want to drop salary that's been well documented.  How does adding Pierce and Bass make that happen?

Gasol 's contract is alot at his age.  PP belongs on the Celtics as long as he wants.  AS long as Doc is here , he takes care of the older guys , has got their respect and thus I don't see them anxious to leave a good thing (being a Celtic).

I like Gasol , he would be nice additon, but his agent just did his job too good. :-\

PP had a tough offseason but at least he wasn't called out for his intensity and effort by a teammate.

Are you sure he wouldn't have been called out, if he was on Kobe's team?

I hate the idea of trading PP in the first place, but to the Lakers? Get the hell out of here.

Im glad they asked what the lakers should do, cause I would think no one would say the celtics should trade Pierce for Gasol. thats terrible. I wouldnt think about doing that for more than a fraction or a half a second.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
We'd give Chicago and Miami a run for their money for the next three years.

If we'd had Gasol in Pierce's spot this playoffs we'd probably be playing OKC right now and have a very legit shot at beating them.
I love Pierce, but he's extremely injury prone at this point in his career- his body has just taken a beating and we saw this season how a supposedly minor knee issue never really went away.
I just hope if we do keep Pierce that the knee doesn't linger like Kobes's.

Gasol adds champion caliber, All Star Level size. He hasn't been banged up and he does not work well within Mike Browns system because he tries to play him like Garnett too much, and does not let him go to work inside like he should. Gasol would be about the best complement to KG either at power forward or center that we could possibly get in the NBA.
Two 7 footers and a superstar point guard. We'd also be a brutally tough defensive team with our size and stretch ability  with the bigs.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

If Bass was included in the trade and we were able to resign Jeff Green, this is a trade that would make both teams considerably better I think.

Too bad its the two most rivaled franchises in the sport.
