Would I like Paul Pierce to retire as a Celtic?? Yes. But if they can better this team by trading PP, then Im all for it. Like I alway say, its a business. Jordan didnt retire a Bull, Wilkens didnt retire a Hawk, and even Robert Parish didnt retire a Celtic. Saw earlier someone suggest PP to Kings for Evans and #5 pick. If Celtics would turn that down, they're idiots.I know Kings wouldnt do that but u get my point.
Of Jordan, Wilkens, and Parish, which (if any of them) were traded, and which (if any) left as free agents?
There's a huge distinction between the two.
Parish left as a free agent in 1994 when Boston essentially decided to move on.
Jordan retired and then came back when he was running the Wizards.
Wilkins and a 1st were traded for Danny Manning
Oscar Robertson was traded from the Royals to Bucks for Flynn Robinson and Charlie Paulk
Pippen was traded to the Rockets for Roy Rogers and 2nd Round pick
Plenty of other stars were traded whether it is Dennis Rodman, Ray Allen, Shaquille O'neal, Charles Barkley, Kevin Garnett, etc. Basketball is a business, period.
That said, I don't think you move Pierce unless you get something of value back (i.e. don't make it a Pippen esque trade).
