So....the Celtics have the series in the palm of their hands after game 5.

They don't show up for game 6 and then lose a 9 point lead in game 7???

Not to mention they should've won game 2. The NBA is fixed. Plain and simple. The league wasn't going to let the Celtics make it to the Finals unless it killed them!!

Now in my eyes, the NBA is no more a sport than the WWE!!

We got beat plain and simple. Things didnt go our way in game 2 thats for sure But we let game 6 and 7 slip through our fingers in not making shots when we needed to.

Too say the league is fixed....... think before you type.

Game 6 was about Lebron playing like he was on fire in NBA Jam, and Game 7 came down to Bosh looking like Ray Allen from the perimeter, along with one gigantic Lebron three-pointer from about 40 feet.

The refs / league can't make the shots go in.  The Heat earned this the past two games.

Stop it. Better team won.

They played better in game 6 and 7. Better individual play won is a better discription. Which is why it stings so much for me. Team play did not prevail. OKC is healthy and deeper so I am sure they will take it to the Heat.

Agreed. They played better tonight in a must win situation and they deserved the win. Hats off to Miami.

Games can easily be influenced by officiating, and there's no doubt some games favor certain teams.

But this game wasn't fixed, we gave it away in the last seven minutes, by abandoning everything we had run successfully in the first three quarters.

The boys just had nothing left in the tank, (and not just the older guys), and started front-rimming everything and not attacking ... not getting to the loose balls, not creating turnovers, not rebounding.

But the better "team" did not win ... there's absolutely no better "team" in the NBA than the Celtics, and anyone who doubts that doesn't quite have a grasp on just what that word means when it pertains to basketball.

Man, this one hurts ... as much as the loss in 1987 and 2009. Truly. But I'm as proud of this team as I've ever been, and no other this year gave as much effort or showed as much heart and tenacity.

Celtics: Hold your heads high, boys ... we love you, and you'll always be champs as far as we're concerned.

As a vocal complainer about the officiating in the NBA, and this series most recently, I want to say I agree: the series was NOT fixed. That is going too far. The only "fixing" of the series was only loosely reality.

However, I did see in this series a large disparity when it came to superstar calls. More than is typical I am afraid. The facts just are unavoidable. Did the better team win? Perhaps. Perhaps the Heat were better than the Celtics. I certainly expected them to win the series and said so before it even began. I was fine with that because I did believe the Celtics were outmatched. All I wanted - all many of us wanted - was a chance for the Celtics to win or lose with fair officiating.

The treatment Lebron got for the majority of the series was disgusting. It was blatant. It was wrong. One could make a case in earlier games this series that the Celtics simply were not driving to the hoop enough to get fouls. One could not say that tonight. Lebron had more foul shots than the Celtics team combined. That is not because Lebron is the greatest player of all time (he isn't) - it is clearly because the refs were intentionally helping Lebron. Zero fouls? Again? Sure, he fouled out in one game, ok. Does that then excuse the incredible benefits he got in every other game?

And note, I have only mentioned Lebron here. He is not the only Heat player that got benefits of calls/non-calls. Did the Celtics get any help? Maybe they did, it sure looked like it in game four. I am against ANY help like this beyond "normal human  nature."

Refs are not machines - they are going to make mistakes, bad calls, missed calls...of course they are. In any sport that is the case and it is stupid to consider human nature some sort of conspiracy. What happens in the NBA regularly - and again, in this series most recently - is not just "human nature" and mistakes. I see no other conclusion but intentional interference with the game and disregard for the rules.

I want to repeat: I agree saying this series was fixed is a bit over the top. That is unless you consider the help of Lebron and other Heat players a "fix." I look at it more as the refs want to help the Heat, not guarantee their victory.

Boston showed great heart in this series, except for game 6. They could have won the series and, perhaps, should have even with the refs. But as far as I am concerned, it cannot be denied the refs assisted the Heat and that fact cannot be dismissed. The NBA is a terribly run league and this is the main reason for it. Fans across the country are complaining about it. When Lakers fans say the Celtics are getting jobbed it is alarming enough, but when Heat fans agree...that is incredible.

(Obviously I am generalizing, but I have had conversations with three different Heat fans tonight and all three of them said they were disappointed in winning like this. They wanted dearly to beat our "old men" on their own terms, not with corrupt reffing).

It is a shame, nothing less. The NBA is a sham and only the love for our teams allows us to try to rationalize otherwise. That is my opinion.

I would have happily lost this series watching my boys bring what they could. I am proud of what they accomplished,  but I am depressed by the unfairness on the floor. I would rather have been swept in an honest series of games than this.

We can all agree to disagree but I'll say this.....

This issue expands far beyond this series, these playoffs & the Heat. The mere sight of impropriety by the officials in favor of a particular player or team does indicate that there is indeed a "fix". When 2 worthy opponents are battling & 1 team has to work harder, due to unfair officiating,in order to get a win it makes fans more than a little leary.
I don't say this as a Celtic fan but as a fan of basketball because at the end of the day I want to see the best team win. Too often, over the course of the past 10 plus years,I've been left with this feeling that things are more heavily skewed  to what the NBA wants as an outcome based on their favorite "Superstar" of the moment rather than the 2 best teams meeting in the finals.

As it pertains to this series we had our chances despite the refs "helping" the Heat & unfortunately in games 6 & 7 when we needed it most the ball just wouldn't fall into the basket for us. It is what it is but it would have been nice  to see what the outcome would have been & in how many games if we had a whole series of fair officiating.

If it was fixed... then they are all fixed... and our 2008 title is tainted due to a "fix".

Cut and paste from another thread:

My problem with that logic is that it hinges on the improbable idea that the NBA favors LeBron, looks after him, coddles him and gives him the benefit of the doubt because they have some kind of vested interest in seeing him succeed.   And if you're willing to make that crazy conspiracy theory leap... you almost must accept that our 2008 title is tarnished.  Where does it end?  Where does Stern's evil influence start and end?  Did he not give star treatment to Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen?... three franchise players... one an MVP.  In 2008, Kevin Garnett was as much a face of the NBA as LeBron.  Was he getting the benefit of the doubt too?  This idea that Stern only fixes it for "other" teams and not the Boston Celtics is kind of stupid, if you ask me.  It's a slippery slope.  If it's fixed, it's fixed... and Stern forced Memphis to trade Pau to LA, forced Minny to trade KG to Boston... and used his minion refs to assure a Celtics/Lakers final with a Boston victory, because it was "in the best interest of the league".

It's nonsense.  LeBron's a beast.  There's no fix.  We lost.  Our 2008 title was legit.

the nba is fixed but can be enjoyed

once you start making calls based on repuations or agenda which nobody denies that the nba does then you have arrived into a form of match fixing by definition, it doesn't meam it's not entertaining

You have to accept stern's nba for what it is a glorfied version of wwe.

remember donaghy never called games differently, that's why they never fired him or had a clue on what was going on until the fbi notified them, he just had knowledge of the nba or referre agendas at the time and based on that was able to predict game outcomes a ridculous 80+% of the time.

Yes because you are some authority on all things NBA. NBA does protect Lebron. Too say otherwise is just ignoring the obvious ::) There was pleny of example in this game alone. No tech for hanging on a rim, they called KG on that in a different game. Lebron had 0 fouls for a whole game? Give me a break!

Nobody is saying Lebron is the only one to get star treatment. All star players have gotten it but Lebron get protected more then most! 0 fouls in the amount of time he played? This series was the 1st time Lebron has fouled out since joining the Heat. All the evidence needed imo.
