  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
C - Yao Ming/Joakim Noah/Manute Bol
PF - KG/Zach Randolph/Antonio Davis
SF - Eddie Jones/Derrick Mckey/Dennis Scott
SG - Michael Redd/Tony Allen
PG - Chauncey Billups/Sam Cassell

Thoughts? Matchup issues?

Your team is super solid defensively, but I'd like it better with a true 3 and Eddie jones at the 2. Tayshaun Prince or another guy who could facilitate the ball, get good entry passes to garnett+Yao.

That article should have been written about Robert Horry or James Posey but the writer fell in love with the Mediocre genius that is Darryl Morey.

Maybe, do the plus minus numbers back that up? But even if it were true that their numbers were identical or at least compperable, that doesn't mean battier isn't the guy I'm saying he was

Thanks.

That could be 3D (Dennis Scott) for us.

He did well with Shaq in ORL.

Plus, with my team we must realize that both Yao and KG are Outstanding passing Bigs.

Absolutely true, but someone's gotta make those entry passes. Its probably a minimal concern, with a lot of these greats, we often underestimate what they could do if called upon.

That's where Heavy D (Mckey) or 3D comes in.

Both were good distributors for the years I'll use them.

Heavy D would be the better defender in this case, while 3D would be the better shooter - especially from deep.

I think it's a heck of a team. Not as high on Gasol as you are (when healthy I think Bogut is the better player by a head at least), and not nearly as high on his offense, but points shall be scored indeed. Yay, and there shall be toughness and defense, if not by the starters but then by the bench knights sir Howard, sir Lewis, and sir Perkins.

The irony is that if Bogut hadn't shattered his elbow, youd have zero defensive liabilities (for me).

The tricity Blackhawks annoy me, because they're so well rounded. I don't think they're the best team here, talentwise, but they look more like an 'ideal' team than any other. Look for a weakness, and you don't need an explanation as to how it is addressed, because it's right there. Deep, looks sound chemistry wise, looks a lot like the actual bulls, if rip Hamilton was rip Hamilton of years past, and boozer hadn't become...whatever he is now, if you get my drift.

For real thought, I might start Aldridge and have Love come in for who ever has fould difficulties first, LA or Dwight. I think it'll be more effective against the size in this league. Really good team though.

One thing I do worry about with love is that without a rebounding need, his defense will become a bit exposed, and his overall value decrease. Next to Howard his D shouldn't suffer much (let along Deng as well), but youve got two potential liabilities in ray Allen and love (depending on which year you want to use ray), and I'm not sure love's 3pt shot overwhelms his negatives if you don't need his rebounding.

I think you guys are forgetting how good Finley was, and how athletic he was in his prime. He's a shot creator, plus defender, solid shooter, and good lockerroom guy, plus although he and Nash didn't work spectacularly in Nellie ball, they didn't have a cast remotely as sound as this one.

And Shane battier has been underestimated for years. Look up the article on him from the ny times, the plus minus numbers. He makes his teammates better, he was the bat perimeter defender in the league for a year or two, and he can hit his corner 3. Not a prototype, but I'm not concerned about him checking anyone.
far be it from michael lewis to exaggerate a point to improve a story. #boomroasted

Im on my phone so i cant re read but wasnt the point of the times piece that physically he doesnt have the skills to really be an nba player but since hes so smart, and uses all the info hes provided he gets by. And then it kind of exaggerated his effectiveness against kobe and other stars?

I wish there was more playmaking there in the starting 5. The thunder are most effective when Harden is in, because he moves the ball. Hardaway is a scorer, spree is a scorer, and Durant, although much improved, is a scorer. Mcdyess and mourning arent elite facilitators either for their respective positions.

Athletically, you might have the best starting 5 in the league, and defense should be tight.

Good glue guys on the bench, and more sound defense to couple with it.
