Last year, Al Thornton played for two non play-off teams: The Wizards and the Warriors. He was released by Washington paving the way for the Warriors to sign him. I think that if Keith Smart had stayed as coach of Golden State, he would have stuck with them.

I did some researching and found that he is playing in Puerto Rico and is playing well. He has had issues with his knee(s) and ankle(s) but all those problems are behind him.

Another concern was his work habit and some personal matters. Please click the link for the complete story:

Wow. Puerto Rico? He could have made a ton of money in europe while refining his game playing a much tougher competiton. I was actually really surprised that he didn´t have an NBA contract.

He's 28 years old now, 29 in December. The 'potential' ship has sunk, he is what he is - athletic, undersized pf who isn't athletic enough to offset his offensive/defensive deficiencies.

All I mean, that if his goal is to make it back in to the big league, he propably should have come to europe to play. He is a legitimate NBA-level scorer (although for a very short while), teams in europe pay big bucks for those kind of players to come over and play.

I´m no expert in eurobasket or Puertoricoball, but I bet he would have made a ton of more money and proven his health and skills better in europe.

I agree. But, I think he wanted to stay closer to home. I hope another team in the NBA gives him a chance.

He actually played well enough as a 3 last year.

Everyone should give the OP a TP for starting a thread on Al Thornton tonight. Loves it.

I'm not sure if it's sarcasm I detect.
