I have Pierce at the 2 (at least at the moment) and I'd take him over Finley and just because he is on my team.

From 2000-2004, Pierce was a bit better than Finley (and they were matched up against each other a lot).

I think you have an issue taking the non championship pierce, that gives your starting 4 as of now only one champion and thats this guy.

I got the 3rd picks in the next two rounds, 6+7, looking to trade up into this round.  Let me know if you are interested.

I'm using Bynum from this season.  He was way too raw during the title runs.

BTW, a lot of the teams do not have a title season from any player.

Im not talking about title season im talking about guys that won.  Pierce in 2002 while more impressive physically was not the  all around player that he was in 07-08.  If you use the 02 Pierce you will only have one player on a championship winner and that guy as we have seen is inconsistant.

I could not find Who's last pick, Terry Porter, on the eligible player list. I'm not sure if anyone else is missing but Porter was drafted 24th overall in the 1985 draft so he should be there. I'm going to add his name to the list and cross him off.

So I think I've just about talked myself into delusion about Finley. I have come to the conclusion that aside from Kobe, mcgrady and Wade, I'm not sure I'm weaker at the 2 against anyone. Finley was just an absolute monster in his prime, and stacks up better than some as a complete player, and at least a peer with the rest. Thoughts?

I think for the second straight draft I provided you with your team's perfect compliment only to be completely disregarded for a marginal player like Michael Finley.

EDIT: Haven't had my first coffee yet so I can't think of a way to make this read tongue and cheek. So I'm just going to tell you, this was tongue and cheek.

I wouldn't take 2008 Pierce. I thought he was at his best in those 2000-2002 and 2004-2006 stretches. I'd pick one of those seasons.

I have no issues with his mentality or experience as a younger player. Pierce was a thoroughbred. Always able to play the game the right way. A genuine winner.

I don't think he'll have any difficulty adapting to the role asked of him on that loaded Dallas team.

I dunno, what season did he have the bandage incident in the playoffs, 05 or 06?  I mean that almost got him traded... I think if you pick a year after that you should be ok

Good morning folks.

Let's get this thing on. Please, like always, do not take my guys. I'm having a hard time deciding between talent or fit already, please do not add up to the problem by stealing my picks. Thank you.  ;D

In 2001-2002 Pierce was an A defender (drtg of 99 - the best in his career and just under 2 steals a game), a great shooter (over 40% from three), a great rebounder (for a 2 guard at almost 7 a game), a good passer (over 3 assists), etc.  The championship Pierce was a bit more savvy but had also lost a step and could no longer play SG at all.  And it isn't like the 02 Pierce was a terrible performer in the playoffs.  Sure he wasn't a Finals MVP, but he was still very good in the playoffs (including 8.6 boards a game and just under 25 points) for a team that made the conference finals.
