Refereeing for the last 2 games in the Sixers series..and onward

What do you think?

Allen had 5 fouls and in foul trouble before the 7 minute mark

Pierce with 5 fouls before the 7 minutes mark and then fouls out


What kind of calls are we going to get vs the Heat if we can barely get calls against the Sixers

I really hope the league and Stern dont push for Miami finally winning it or at least getting to the finals.

Its like Miami is on its last leg in the fact that if they dont make it and win it, it will be full blown outcry from media/fans/critics.

Stern has always pushed the teams they market heaviest.  I expect to get hosed.   If we are ahead they will step in and keep the games close and get our guys in foul trouble.  They are probably polishing up their ref whistles now. 

I can see some big time technicals being leveled this series.

I think that when you are moving at 70-85% speed from ankle bone spurs and a sprained MCL, you end up committing fouls in situations you are used to being able to get out of without fouling. Pierce's offensive foul happens because he's less able to cut or his cut is a fraction later than he is used to, having to grab on defense because your feet didn't get you where you thought they would, etc.

I just saw a faster team out there that the C's needed to foul, because most sixers were a step faster to whatever spot they wantd.

your right , but some of the calls were as ticky tacky as can get with the allen or pierce in front of there man.

We will see though. I saw Lebron and Wade combine for 1 foul the entire game during the Pacers series, thats as much evidence for me.

The only reason Pierce fouled out was because he wasted 2 or 3 fouls on the 2nd half wrapping up people in the paint and giving soft fouls on fast breaks.

true, but at the same time, his 6th foul was a horrible call on all counts...it shouldve been a blocking foul instead of a charge because his feet werent set.

aditionally, a close game, game 7 and you call THAT on the teams best closer? it doesnt matter now because Rondo turned into super rondo..

but if you are a Ref, you dont call that.

my advice to all celtics players for the next series is, if you are going to get called for the foul anyway, then make sure you get your money's worth out of it.

I've sent so many e-mails to the NBA about the bad refereeing and most of the time all I get back is a form letter. It just shows they really don't care what the fans think ! The NBA needs some way to rate the refs so they can weed out the bad ones. Coaches and players need to rate them after each game. I also feel they should hold the refs accountable ! If a technical gets over turned then the ref should be fined or suspended ! Most T's are a result of a refs bad call and a player or coach react to it and games are decided by it. The NFL does something like this and only the highest rated refs get to do the post season games.

I'll never forget the flagrant fouls given to JO last year that gave the Heat fts and changed the game. Celtics were ahead, momentum shifted, and the heat went on a run and took the lead. It was downhill from there.

Next day... they "got it wrong."

Boy was i p---ed...

Out of curiosity and boredom, just took a quick look at some of the non-Celtic big market superstars in the 2nd round of the playoffs, to see what their fouls per game were and how that compared to career and playoff averages. Sample is really too small to infer/conclude a lot, but I thought it was still somewhat interesting results wise:

This is three years old, but it is interesting. There are definitely games I can think of where it is hard to believe the refs were not helping a particular team intentionally, but overall I wonder if this ongoing concern that the refs hate the Celtics (or whoever) is fan bias.

Is this really a bad thing? If anything, Miami losing in the ECFs would only draw more attention and publicity to both the team and the league..which is a good thing, right? The "one last run for the big-3" story line would also get blown up, as well as a KG/Duncan storyline or Celtics/Perkins storyline.

By no means am I saying the Celtics should get the benefit of all the calls, either. There will be storylines no matter who wins and IMO there would be no obvious, clear cut benefit to any specific team.

With that said I still expect the Heat to get most of the calls. They (should) have the 2 most aggressive players on the court..and Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline., if either of them miss a layup they HAD to have been fouled, right?  ;)

I'm for packing the C's defense in tight as possible and making em shot everything for 12 foot or longer.  They have to pay the price for drving to the basket with hard fouls.   

Wade and Bron live on the inside game and breakaway rebounds.

Standing in a taking charges would be the order of the day
