I like that Rockets team.  It's too bad Lowry is disgruntled.

It makes sense though. Dragic has played great ball for the rockets. Lowry is better than a bench player but i think Dragic fits that team better so he is kinda stuck. Maybe Lowry heads Orlando to keep Howard happy or is somehow involved in a big overhaul where the Lakers trade Gasol for Lowry and pieces then ship Sessions somewhere else.

I don't think Dragic fits the team better, but I do think Lowry hit the nail on the head by stating they're both starting caliber players.

From the Rockets' viewpoint, I can understand wanting to appease Lowry while promising Dragic the world, because if they can get Dragic and Lowry both playing well and playing big minutes in the short term, Lowry's trade value skyrockets.

Teams I think he should go to:

1) Orlando if they're keeping Howard(has no pieces Houston wants though)
2) Atlanta
3) Portland
4) New York
5) Detroit
6) Dallas

Teams That He Might Go To That Can Afford Him:
1) LA (Gasol for Scola/Lowry
2) Portland (Something centered around a S&T'd Batum+ for Lowry+)
3) New York (Dalembert+Lowry for Tyson Chandler)
4) Atlanta (J-Smoove+Teague for Scola+Lowry)

Also, any of the lottery teams could parlay a top 15 pick for the kid as well.

If I'm Portland, I'd consider moving a high 1st rounder for Lowry (either the #6 or the #11). No need to give up Batum.

Interesting trade idea:

(EDIT: Hey, Lucky, how about you stop stealing my thunder, bro? I had the idea, ON MY OWN, and you just went out there and gave it to the world while I typed up all my silly reasons! You sonofabiscuit!)

Portland lets everyone walk they can let walk (leaves them at ~38 million or so, including their cap holds if I did my math right), plus lets say 10 million for Batum, so 48 million. The salary cap should be roughly 56-58 million next season, so that puts Portland at around 8 million or more of room.

Portland trades: Wes Matthews (6.5 mil), JJ Hickson (3.3 mil QO offer he'll probably accept, assuming they exercise it at all), lesser of their 2012 Lotto picks (projected to be 6 and 11 right now)

Houston trades:
Kyle Lowry (5.7), Kevin Martin (12.9)

So Portland looks something like:

Lowry
Martin
Batum
Aldridge
?

Along with a top 6 pick

Houston looks like:
Dragic (say 6-8 million per)
Matthews/Lee
Parsons/Budinger
Scola/Patterson/Morris
Dalembert/Hickson

With around 14-16 million in cap space to use, along with their picks (#11, #14, #16)

Lots of cap space going forward, and a primo position to rebuild "The right way".

Honestly I wouldn't mind making a move, but I'm not sure they would want Rondo with Dragic and that is all we could move.  Perhaps find a third team, like say the Lakers.

Something like Lowry and Martin to Boston, Gasol and Allen (sign & trade) to Houston, and Rondo to L.A..  Maybe Scola is also involved or other pieces.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Great minds, IP.

I don't know about moving Wes Matthews for Martin. Matthews did have an off year, but I think trading him now would be a bit of a betrayal. He was one of the few professionals in that Blazer locker room this season, and he's already committed publicly to being with the summer league team in Vegas. I think he's assuming the leadership of that team in a way that Aldridge seems reluctant or unable to. (Not a knock on Aldridge: just saying he's not an especially vocal presence in the locker room, from what's been reported).

So, I'd try to keep Matthews if at all possible. He's cheaper than Martin, and should offer roughly the same production.

I would feel very dirty, seeing Rondo kill it in forum blue and gold. Any other team, I could deal with it as long as we got good return, but not the Lakers, Heat, or Knicks.

I agree. I just don't see Morey trading away a high-level starting PG and his beautifully cheap contract for the pick alone. He's got a few choices to make, and if he's just giving up Lowry for potential (effectively starting a full re-build), he's gonna want to unload some of his other 'problems', starting with Martin.

After that he's gotta find a home for Scola.

I hear you, but it seems like those three teams could actually be good trading partners as the Rockets have an interest in Gasol and the Lakers have an interest in Rondo.  Lowry and Martin is a pretty good swap for Rondo and Allen, so I think it would out well for all three teams.  But yeah, it is weird trading with the Lakers.

So, at what point does Lowry get labeled as a problem child?  He caused issues in Memphis (necessitating a trade), and now he's asking for a trade / saying he can't get along with McHale in Houston.

Id like to see what Lowry could do alongside Aldrige in Portland. If atlanta could nab him while keeping smith and johnson that could be entertaining as well. I dont see the Knicks trading chandler for him however. He did wonders for that team.

Im also crazy high on lowry....

Would have been a big fan of a rondo for lowry/dalembert/pick trade.

LOL

When have those guys ever won anything....?

rondo is 20 times the player Lowry is.

Dalembert is not good.

Picks are gambles.

You want to rebuild a franchise with.. Kyle Landry?

What issues did he have in Memphis? I thought it was Conley Jr

I'm going from memory, mostly because I'm lazy to find multiple links.  Here's one, though:

Quote
Make no mistake about it: Lowry absolutely had to be traded. He became impossible to coach once Lionel Hollins took over and gave the reigns to Mike Conley. Lowry's reluctance to accept a backup role - something he even struggles with in Houston - became counterproductive to the Griz moving forward.

Nobody puts Lowry in the corner, Roy. You know this.

Question: Did you, or did you not learn this in a convoluted attempt to slander my CB Draft team?
