Dear Doc,

You are a great coach, and you are the guy I want on the Celtics bench for years to come.

But you have let us down in the playoffs with your inability, unwillingness or whatever to demand that this offense control the pace of the game.

By now, you and I both know that the Celtics win when they attack the rim and move the basketball. They don't win when the shot clock is pounded to death until a wild jump shot is the only remaining alternative.

We're at Game 7 because the latter has been far more common than the former, to the point that pundits bemoan the quality of basketball our Celtics are playing, and I hold you partially responsible for allowing that to be an inescapable fact.

So on Saturday, I have one request: Demand that the Celtics attack, and get people on the floor who will attack. I don't care who it is.

But conversely, please don't sit idly by on the bench as you have through the playoffs while this offense stagnates into a tragic caricature of a high school spread out of some misplaced loyalty.

Please, get the basketball in the hands of someone who will attack Saturday night. And get it out, quickly, of the hands of those who won't.

Yours,
CoachBo
