Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Avery Bradley's shoulder dislocated again Friday, at least the third occurrence of the playoffs, and expressed concern about how long the second-year guard can continue to play through the pain.
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Celtics coach Doc Rivers said that Avery Bradley's shoulder dislocated again during Friday's Game 4 loss in Philadelphia, at least the third occurrence of the playoffs, and expressed concern about how long the second-year guard can continue to play through the pain.

Bradley did not participate in Sunday's afternoon workout and is officially a game-time decision for Monday's Game 5 of an Eastern Conference semifinal series (though the expectation is that he will likely play).

"It came out. It went right back in, which is crazy," Rivers said of the Game 4 dislocation. "It's a tough thing, what he's going through. A lot of players would not be playing."

Quote
It's his first playoffs and he's dealing with stuff. It's just tough. It really is," said Rivers. "I swear, a lot of people would not be playing and the only reason that he is is because he wants to. But I am concerned at some point that he may not be able to any more. We don't know what game that is, we don't know if he can finish it -- we could go all the way and he could play. Or tomorrow could be his last game. You really don't know."

Bradley underwent treatment before Sunday's practice, but was held off the floor as the team went through half-court sets in a light workout.

As has been the case for much of the postseason, it's still likely that Bradley, who carried on at the end of Game 4, will be available for Monday's Game 5.

I don't think there is anyway the c's make it to the finals if Bradley cant play against Miami . This will cause Pietrus to have to move to the starting lineup meaning Sasha/Daniels and Ray would have to cover lebron and wade for the second unit.
Don't like the chances of that happening .

the more i read about bradley the more i am impressed with the kid. warmed the bench for a year and all he did was be patient, develop his game, and now look at him at only 22 years old.

but...

ONE dislocation is agony. multiple must be terrible for him. judging from his scoring of late, the dislocation is affecting his offense. now it might also affect his defense, at least against elite players.

sigh. after all this worry about the big three being hurt, it turns out that having bradley hurt may be the biggest blow of all for the team.

hopefully he can play through this and still make a significant contribution. but it would also help if peitrus would step up his game during the playoffs. he could take some more of the load off bradley and pierce.

10 games into this season, who would have thought we would be having this discussion and lamenting the loss of bradley?  :D

Extremely painful. Like a knife in the shoulder. Takes a lot out of you; but Docs told me there was little I could do to make it that much worse. The only issue is recovery time which can be long. The bigger the tear the more scar tissue to deal with the longer the recovery. I could barely drive. Can't imagine playing at the level he is. Was able to rehab mine; but his is much worse.

Those gods gave us Philly in round 2 and will give us either Indy or perhaps a Bosh-less Miami in the ECF if we get there.

great, but if they could manage to have lebron and wade crash into each other and dislocate all shoulders and knees at the same time, that would be even better.  ;D

what sort of prayers do basketball gods accept anyway?

Yeah, Dwight Howard, Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, Chris Bosh, Josh Smith, and Al Horford all were hit with injuries.

The basketball gods are really frowning on the Celtics.

2 heart ailments, pierce's knee, ray allen's ankle making him useless, bradley's shoulder, both rondo and kg playing through pain. I never said no other team had injuries but lets be real here....

Can't say I've lived through it, but my wife is currently living through it. She told me it was the most painful experience she's had. And that includes childbirth.
Celtics fan for life.

Maybe we should ask the Spurs, Thunder and Pacers how to pray to these 'Basketball Gods'  ;)
