This is bad. If we move him to the bench he might lose more confidence. Yet he's not giving us some help either.

Something's got to give at this point. I believe Doc should let him come off the bench, albeit the consequences and put either Hollins or Steimsma in at starter. He may find his rhythm back against the Sixers' 2nd unit.

he'll be a lot cheaper to sign after his playoff performance.

hate to say it but BBD was much better in the playoffs.  not the regular season, but definitely the playoffs.

Agree on all points. Never in a million years did i think we would ever miss that donut muncher. I bet he's eating some sort of pastry as we speak. My money is on cupcakes personally.

LOL! TP! Man im laughing so hard right now from your comment.

Really not sure what has happened to Bass.  He had the reputation with Orlando of shrinking in the playoffs and is adding to it with Boston.

He has no post moves other than dribbling too much and trying to spin toward the basket.  Philly knew that move was coming and poked it away easily a couple times.

The worst part is his shooting.  Tonight most of his 15 attempts were wide open.  From his supposed 'sweet spots' of 10-17 feet from the basket.  Philly was purposely rotating off Bass and leaving him wide open.  To see him miss the open shots that are the only real value he provides offensively then not sure if it's worth continuing to start him at this point...

As bad as Bass has been shooting, I don't miss Big Lazy. At least Bass doesn't think he's Wilt Chamberlain and plays within his role. Of course he should be making a lot of those open shots, but things like these happen. Who would've thought Ray was going to miss multiple free shots in a game?

I don't want Bass for a multi-year deal, but he'll be great in a one-year deal for the right money. He's a good bench player, not a starter for a team that wants to contend, but he's been a good soldier all season. There's hope he can get back to his shooting form and then he'll help our team.

Go Celtics!

We either have confidence in this team or we don't. Yes, they threw this game away, but where the next game is is irrelevant to these two teams. One team, I believe, is the superior team, and it will show up regardless of where they play the next game.
Location is relevant. The history of the playoffs shows pretty strongly that home court matters a lot. Look at home many superior teams lose to inferior teams on the road in the playoffs.

You can spin the results of any singly game any way you want, but venue matters a lot.

I don't have a high level of confidence in the team, but I wish for the best. We have shown we can go on good runs like the last third of the season, but are far from dominant healthy and we aren't healthy. I will be pretty sad if we lose to the Sixers, but I won't be surprise. We are one of those 'has an outside shot' teams.

I am quite disappointed in Bass and his missed jumpers, but he isn't the only one shooting supbar jump shots. Unless I know the alternatives, I see no reason to oppose Bass returning.

I agree Glenn Davies performed huge vs Brandon Bass during this playoff. You wanna know why? Because Glenn was trained by the Celtics and KG. Give Bass another year and he will be greater than him.

On another note, I sorely miss Chris Wilcox!

Does the last season counts?

You can say all you want about Baby, but one thing he was not was lazy.  The guy worked his butt off ever second he was on the court.

Bass would be great if he was playing where he meant to be played an off the bench big.   I think this is his ceiling but we start him.   He is a nice big off the bench and tough but exposed as a starter sometimes.

What concerns me is that Doug Collins has taken a page from the Heat's playbook last year against us and basically said that he is going to let Bass (BBD) beat them, but he is not going to let anyone else do it.  And it is working.

BBD cratered against the Heat last year.  We get any offense from him, that series is 7 games.  Bass is somewhat collapsing right now for us.  I actually thought he played fine last night, just missed too many open shots.  Doc clearly did too, Bass stayed in for basically the entire 1st quarter.  He got great looks, made a few, missed twice as much, and then the crowd got on him a bit.

But you could say this about the whole team right now: if they could just MAKE SOME OPEN SHOTS - we'd be up 2-0.

exactly
davis is being paid as a starter but not starter material
bass is a good sub who was forced to start when ONeil turned to dust.  Part of it is great as KG at center has been great.  Bass to me has shown he STILL doesn't understand defensive rotations but when he can hit the jumper rondo will make him look good.  PS he is playing with bad knee

He needs to start taking his elbow jumpers rather than the corner baseline jump. All season he was automatic from the elbow extended of the free throw line. Since he has been getting open on the corner baseline this postseason, he has gotten completely thrown off.

Bass is who he is, and that is a very good PF off the bench, and an incredibly mediocre (and that is generous) starter.  I will gladly see him walk this summer, just like Davis last summer, unless he wants to come back on a small deal.  You can always find guys like him and Davis, no need to pay a premium for them.

Bass is what he is and always has been.  He is a terrible defender an average at best rebounder and a limited offensive player.  Now when he is hitting his shot he is tough to defend, but when he isn't, he just doesn't bring much more to the table.  Now granted he has been playing down right awful the last few weeks and he should get better, but at the end of the day Bass is what I always thought he was.

I could not wait to open the blog today to see the predictable Bass bash entries.....he's fine, just a slump.....others are not shooting well either
