We had to go to a game 7 in 2009 against the 7th seed Bulls when KG went out. And we still had two future hall of famers and Rondo.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
And in Chicago's case, you just can't overlook the psychological blow the team received.
We knew that Rondo would be back for the next game. We knew that there was a chance Ray would be back at any times in the playoffs.
Now, Chicago knows that they're without Rose through the all way and knowing they can't win the whole thing without Rose, they have pretty much resigned and this is understandable for a team without a true on-court leader.

Mentally Weak team, those teams dont go far in the playoffs.

Well, losing an MVP caliber talent and the teams' best player by a country mile, along with their defensive anchor and most vocal leader isn't exactly something that helps advancing.

Bulls were overrated all along

No they weren't.  Take Rondo and Garnett from our team and see how far we go.

Boston would look "overrated" if our two best players (Pierce and KG) were injured too.

Bulls were awesome.  The MVP from last year is hurt.  Noah missed tonight.  What do you expect?

Also Rondo is our best player, and we still won a game vs the 4 seed without him.
KG is our best player.  No question.  Pierce is our 2nd best.  Rondo is 3rd.  All three are allstars.

And the Bulls DID win a game against Philly.  Unfortunately their team relies on Rose primarily for offense.  Whereas Boston has a pretty balanced attack of scorers lead by Paul Pierce (with Rondo doing a good job of getting our scorers the ball).

Noah's defensive presence on that team is similar to KG for us.  You remove Noah alone and that team takes a major step back (kinda like us in 09 when we clawed away without KG as overachieving non-contenders)... then imagine taking Paul Pierce off the Celtics as well... that's what it's like removing Rose except worse since Rose is an even bigger offensive threat.  If you're curious what Boston looks like without Paul pierce, check our first three games this year (all losses).  We generally lose without Pierce.  We generally win without Rondo... and that's because of Paul Pierce.

I can see comparing Noah to KG... I can't see comparing Rose to Rondo.  Rose is a phenomenal offensive player (like Pierce).  Rondo isn't.  He's an elite setup guy.

This thread is embarrassing. We could show a bit more class towards a team in an almost identical situation to us in 2009 and game 6-7 of the 2010 finals.

Especially considering we aren't facing and doubtfully will be facing the Bulls at all in this postseason.

I question that. I think Pierce and Rondo are better then KG now.

Focus entirely on KG tonight (even when he doesn't have the ball) and see if your opinion changes.  What he does for us on both ends can't be undervalued.  He's the MVP.  No doubt.

WHen he's moving well... he instantly transforms this team into a contender.

I second that. If someone needs to sympathize with the Bulls right now, it's the Celtics at first.

I'm locking the thread...doesn't look like its going anywhere and the tone of some of the posts here is pretty out of line.
