There's a thread up about whether or not Rondo can win league MVP.  That got me wondering if he would even win  Celtics' MVP if it were taken to a vote by Celticsbloggers.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to make a poll.  Maybe, someone who has that expertise could help me out with that?

Who do folks think is the MVP of this team?  I'd give it close to a tie between Garnett and Rondo with Garnett edging him out and Pierce coming in third.

It's hard because both Garnett and Rondo are destroying everything in their collective path. I'd probably give a slight edge to KG because of his defense. Rondo has gambled a little too much this season defensively and KG has once again been our cornerstone- he's also killing all opposing centers on a nightly basis.
They've both hit their stride post trade deadline time as well so I can't say one has had an edge for longer this season.
Tough call.
Without Rondo we really don't get the jumpshots, but without KG  playing defense and stretching the floor with his jump shooting ability we can't score as easily.
I'll have to wait till the playoffs to decide to be honest, too close to call.

I agree this is Rondo's team. He runs this team offensively, but KG runs this team defensively.
If KG is out, we have no chance.
If Rondo is out, we almost have no chance, but a glimmer of hope.

KG hands down.

Defensively this team is lost without him, and offensively he creates so many opportunities for us with his range (spacing), and, when Rondo isnt on the floor, his distribution work from the high post.

Very close, but I say Rondo.
He is such a great passer..he finds easy baskets where no one else in the league could.  I agree he gambles too much defensively, but during this streak his timing on when to gamble and his decision making defensively has been much better.  He even rebounds.  Let's face it, he does it all.

I was wrong about Rondo, I was one of the guys saying we should trade him.

KG.  He deserves defensive player of the year, is performing well on Offense, and has without a doubt been our most consistent player.  KG looks better this year than he has the past two years!  I say he's MVP for his leadership, production, and consistency.

I say you gotta give it KG.  He's such a warrior, such a leader, such a great teammate.  Not saying Rondo isnt any of those things but KG on Defense is what makes us a contender.

First of all, he's playing out of position against bulkier stronger guys, and he's killing them.  Like legite, murder death kill on they punk behinds.  And he's doing it on BACK-TO-BACKS now.. He couldnt do that the previous two years.  He's just kicked it up a notch this year, its unbelievable.

I honestly think Rondo is the best point guard in the NBA.  He's the best player on our team.  He does everything.  He's the Lebron James of point guards in terms of his skill-set.  With that being said, I still think KG is more important for the C's.  You can't take away the defensvie anchor of a team and expect to win consistently.

Take KG off the Celtics and we have nothing.  Rondo's our best palyer, but KG is our MVP.

Has to be KG.  If he plays like he did against Miami, this team is an NBA Finals team.

Rondo because this historic streak of play making has coincided with the Celtic's reemergence as a....dare I say it....legitimate contender.

  KG has also been amazing during this same period of time but KG is doing what he has done his entire career while Rondo has taken a rather large step forward by consistently being engaged night in and night out for the first time in his career.  Rondo's sudden bout of consistency is making the entire team better.

KG, Rondo and Pierce are the contenders in this category, and I'd say that the difference between the three is razor thin.

Pierce's recent play hasn't been great, but he's carried us for stretches of this season.

Rondo has been the facilitator on the offense, Pierce stepped up his game slowly but surely and has been the primary scorer of the team once again, and KG has been the defensive anchor we've relied on.
Not sure about how to pick in such a situation, but I'm happy that it's tough to pick so that our recent success isn't just due to one certain player's performance but rather a combination of players raising their games.
