According to a tweet from the team (https://twitter.com/#!/nyknicks/status/186213020471541760), Jeremy Lin will be out for at least six weeks due to a "small chronic meniscus tear." ESPN reports Lin will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee early next week (http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/7759848/jeremy-lin-new-york-knicks-surgery-torn-meniscus)

Makes it a little less likely they catch us in the Atlantic.

Pretty big blow given how badly Baron Davis has played.

The third string PGs, Toney Douglas and Mike Bibby, have been very bad too.

Bad news for Lin, but a silver lining for us in terms of getting that MIL draft pick.

PG - Baron, Bibby
SG - Shumpert, Douglas
SF - Fields, JR Smith
PF - Melo, Novak
C  - Tyson, Harrellson

That is a really lousy basketball team.

Tyson Chandler and Carmelo Anthony are the only high level talent on the team. Melo's contributions will be lessened by playing the PF position due to lower levels of defense/rebounding.

Baron Davis is one of the two worst starting PGs in the league. Mike Bibby is one of the worst backup two guards in the league. Iman Shumpert is a streaky player who has a good future ahead of him but for now takes about as much off the table as he puts on it. Toney Douglas has had a really poor year. They are both amongst the weakest players in the league at their respective positions too.

Landry Fields is a very good two guard when he has that size advantage but he is at a physical disadvantage at the three and his defensive drops off considerably as does his relative rebounding capabilities. A weak starting three. Oh, JR Smith, he is a high level main backup wing. One quality role player at their respective role/position. Then we have Steve Novak and Josh Harrellson who are two of the worst primary backup PFs and Cs in the league.

That is a lot of liabilities in their team. Going to be extremely difficult for Melo and Tyson to keep that team in playoff position.

Now this Knicks team is going to live or die by Melo. Might eke out a few more good regular season wins at best, but I predict another embarrassing first-round exist for this squad.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
TP for the heads up. Now I can drop him ASAP for my fantasy team.
I like Marcus Smart

Baron has been pretty terrible shooting the ball, but he can still drive and dish.  If he can get his turnovers in line, I think he can do a lot with Tyson Chandler.

Behind him, it gets pretty ugly though.

I know they are underachieving, but I actually think their depth at pg is pretty decent. How many teams have a guy like Bibby [I know he's old] as their 4th string pg? How many teams have a 4th string pg?
