... In any case, I think there are going to be better players available where the Cs are likely to be drafting.  We need to complement Rondo with floor-running big men and swing forwards, not ball hogging undersized guards with a Jordan-complex.

You're totally right about that but we also need an other scorer for the perimeter. What happens if Ray decides to play for a contender instead of a rebuilding Boston? Who is our future shooting guard?

Rivers has that psychological "it" factor. He has a drive to be the best player alive and he's used to the spotlight. He would be a good fit with us too (take Dooling's minutes assuming Ray comes back). I imagine he'll get snatched up early though. He's going to go into his pro workouts and wow people. I bet he's training as we speak.
agreed

I think it is a bad idea to play for his dad.

I have to admitt the apples usually don't fall far from the tree, Doc was a great player in college and NBA ,  It would follow his son could be too.

Letting Ray go sign Austin might be a good gamble.  RIght now I wouldn't let AB go .  He is breaking out and is becomming the player Doc and DA hoped.

But then there is Luke Walton ...FAIL compared to Bill at that age.

cool austin would love to play for Doc and Doc would love to coach his son.   Now some team will take Austin early and try to get us to give up a bunch of assets for him.  Maybe Rivers is a massive red herring.  lol

He will be a Celtic come draft day is my prediction. The two first round draft picks, should be in theory more than enough to get a pick from 10-15. Though after the 12th pick, you would be actually giving up too much.

How Rivers will fit though on the team, won't be easy to figure out. To me, rondo and bradley are dead set to start for a very long time to come at pg and sg positions. Rivers just about 6'4 (closer to 6'5 than 6'3), is considered a sg and won't be able to build enough mass to play everyday sf in the nba.

So if ever all three would be starters in a few years, we would need to balance the lineup with having at least one generous sized pf or c not afraid to do the dirty block inside the paint.

Also the biggest problem with rivers is that he is considered a ball hog. He will need to change being this way, but not change alot. Celtics will need a player like this post pierce era, that wants the ball in critical situations and can make the shots.

Rivers will be at a unique but no easy ride situation playing under his dad. Doc just to prove to the team, that there is no favouritism , will prob rarely give any minutes for his son to play in his first year in the league. Also will be able to get his message across to him easier than say rivers playing for any other coach in the league.

I don't see how on earth he could ever be a sf. I've met him on a couple of occasions and he is clearly shorter than I am (I measure in at 6'4" without shoes). Also, he just doesn't have the bulk to go against other sf. Heck, Evan Turner is 6'7" and is a sg and about the same build.

He has the ability to be a very good player in this league, but he should be a combo guard - similar to Steph Curry...

Where is he going to play then in the lineup? Like i mentioned Rondo and Bradley are set as starters, for years to come. Unless teams will have to adjust to our small lineup

It doesn't make much sense right now, but i have a gut feeling ainge won't let this kid slide if he is still around from 10 on. Unless he gets drafted before 10, the two celts picks will probably won't get the job done. Will have to pick someone else

we need a scorer, a shooter. We dont have a single shooter we can depend on. Get austin rivers, let ray allen mentor him, and profit. if ray allen doesnt come back, thats an even bigger reason to get austin.

youre right thats why we're hoping theres one. Nothing is ever certain. he's projected anywhere from late lottery to late teens. if he's still on board in the mid teens, i say try to get a deal moving both 1st rounders. hes the 2nd (or 3rd) best shooting guard in this draft.

I could see the C's packaging Bradley and a pick to move up. I like him in the trailing spot up three in the fast break, some one Rondo can get it to if the lane is clogged, and if some one runs out on him, he can drive it to the hoop. And with Green possibly coming back and being the future starting 3 we need a spot up shooter from deep, and the kids got some range.

He's also cold as ice in pressure situations, something like Peirce, and not like Lebron, thats a plus.

Some say hes a ball hog, the few games I saw him play in, he moves the ball pretty well, knows when to pass, and when to keep it. Plus he will get the ball plenty with Green and Rondo being unselfish, some one has to shoot. May as well be the best shooter.

Only problem is he's a little small, but he could still grow an inch, unlikely, but could happen, and he's not a leaper.

My DREAM would be trade  for Harden since he's coming off his rookie contract soon and OKC may not be able to pay him since they maxed on Westbrook and Durant. But Harden may be the player that would take less money, but if not, I would love to see a package if they could get Rivers all tied up with a bow for OKC. Wont happen, but need some thing to dream about in this painful playoff season.
