TP, FL!

KG! Don't play around with Love! Keep THREE eyes on him at all times...he's a fiesty one.

Keep him to a pedestrian 20 and 10, and we got this. (Wow - "20 and 10" for most guys is All-NBA :o. Love is the Real Deal)

Anything more from Love, and we're in trouble.

Rondo! Don't sleep on Ridnour!

Bass still isn't rebounding. Only 6rpg in 35mpg over the past five games. Pretty sure he was just as bad in the five games before that too. Yeah, make that the past ten games that Bass is only getting 6 boards per 35 minutes playing time.

Bass has been such a massive liability on the boards recently that it is canceling out all his positive contributions in other areas.

Terrified of Bass trying to keep Love off the boards and/or Stiemsma trying to defend Love away from the basket on the high post or out on the perimeter. Whenever Garnett rests, Love is going to have a major advantageous matchup against either one of those guys.

Over/Under- Kevin Love- 19.5 rebounds

Ugh ... In 21 games as a starting PF, Bass is averaging 33.6mpg and pulling down only 5.5rpg.

Bass is a very good backup PF but he has no business starting in this league. He is simply too limited as a defender/rebounder.

doc will probably try the classic defense against a basically one-player team.

you cant stop love from scoring and rebounding, but you can make him work really hard for his points and deny everyone else on the team.

in the end, he gets his numbers and the celtics get the win.

i like that trade every day of the week.  ;D

oh....and tp for the game thread.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I know you're not dissing, but considering what bass is making this year and how he is not meant to be starting or playing those minutes, you've GOT TO appreciate his contribution. Sure he's not great but definitely one heck of a backup to be stepping up and performing in those minutes. Same for stiem.

I agree.  This is why he costs only $4 mil per year.  His rebounding numbers definitely hurt him but he does contribute in other ways.  His scoring efficiency is exactly what we need, and he gets those timely points.  I love Bass but I'm willing to deal him for the right trade because we are absolutely desperate for rebounding and he's not doing it.

The problem is Bass isn't stepping up, he's stepping down: he has been less effective as a starter than as a bench player.  He was more efficient offensively and a better rebounder coming off the bench.

It's not Bass' fault that injuries and a lack of better options have pushed him into a role that exceeds his talents, but it's still hurting the team.

Well bass is playing against better players in the starting lineup. I like him starting cause it sometimes forces KG down on the block where I think KG is almost impossible to play against because he has so many moves. I like Bass in the lineup, he is almost a safty valve because teams forget about him and he knocks that 15-18 footer down with ease.

Oh and I'm calling it now Rondo goes for one of his best games of the year tonight. Sorry but they have nobody that can guard him.

start Stiemsma at center, with KG back to his natural spot.
Bass and Hollins of the bench.
problem solved.

Official Report

Jason Phillips

Phillips has officiated 716 regular season games and 19 playoff games since joining the NBA officiating staff 12 seasons ago. He officiated his first two Finals games during the 2010-11 season. In addition, Phillips has six seasons of experience officiating in the CBA, working the 1999 CBA Finals. He also officiated three seasons in the WNBA, working the 1999 WNBA Finals. Phillips spent five years officiating at the high school level in his home state of Texas. The Celtics are 3-1 this season and they are 5-5 over their last 10 games with Phillips as a ref. The loss this season was to Chicago where the Celtics shot 13 free throws to 21 for the Bulls. One win, Charlotte shot 20 free throws to 8 for the Celtics and another win was against Cleveland where the Cavs shot 25 free throws to 14 for the Celtics and the refs let the Cavs hack and trip all night with no calls. The 3rd win was against the Clippers where the Celtics shot 27 free throws to 21 for LA. It was Phillips and crew that got Tommy to swear on the air last season about the refs falling for all the blank blank flops. The Wolves are 0-1 this season and 0-10 with Phillips over their last 10. His home W/L record this season is 20-18.

Brent Barnaky

Barnaky enters his second NBA season having officiated 60 NBA games. Barnaky came to the NBA with 10 years of collegiate officiating experience, including three years of N.I.T. Tournament play. He officiated the 2008, 2009 and 2010 NBA D-League Playoffs, and the 2009 and 2010 NBA D-League Finals. He entered the NBA last season as one of five refs chosen from the D-League to officiate a handful of games the previous season. Barnaky also has spent time training and developing other officials at referee camps. He has only officiated 6 games for the Celtics previously, 2 wins and 4 losses. Celtics are 0-3 this season with Barnaky. The first loss was the 79-71 loss to the Suns where the Suns took 16 free throws to 9 for the Celtics. The second loss was to the Pistons that Tommy Heinsohn called the worst officiated game all season. Rondo was ejected and the Pistons shot 46 free throws to 15 for the Celtics. The 3rd loss was at Philly where they pretty much let them play, calling 14 fouls on the Celtics and 13 on the Sixers. He has called 9 Wolves games, 3 wins and 6 losses. His home W/L record this season is 22-10.

David Jones

David Jones has officiated 1,335 regular season games and 40 playoff games throughout his 22 seasons as an NBA official. In addition, Jones officiated both the men’s and women’s 2000 Olympic Bronze Medal Games. Jones has eight years of collegiate officiating experience. He was one of the refs who helped to train Tim Donaghy and was very outspoken in condemning Donaghy's actions and felt that Donaghy's actions took the "ethics and integrity of the profession and threw them out the window." I guess he hasn't looked very hard at the current crop of refs that also lacks ethics and integrity. The Celtics are 2-0 this season and 6-4 in their last 10 games with Jones. In the first win against Orlando, the Celtics shot 19 free throws compared to 31 for the Magic. In the second win, the Celtics shot 12 free throws to 18 for the Raptors. The Wolves are 1-2 this season and 2-8 in their last 10 games with Jones officiating. His home W/L record this season is 22-16.

IF Rondo has his best game head screwed on tight tonight , toss in a improved AB & healthy Ray ...we can have a huge advantage in the backcourt.

On the other hand ...if a space cadet Rondo shows up  we are probally  toast.
