Neither could or should have said anything different. I don't think it gives any insight either way. If was in Austin's position, I don't know if I would want to play for my dad, in a big media market of all places. I suppose you have to deal with lots of things in professional sports; having to deal with the dynamic of being coached by your dad in a billion dollar business is just one extra thing I wouldn't want to deal with.
That aside, I'm not a huge fan of Austin's game but if the Celtics are picking in the late teens, early 20s, I wouldn't be opposed to getting him. It's hard to get guys who can potentially create their own shots as well as create for others that late in the draft. I doubt he becomes an all-star. I don't see the athleticism, size and touch for him to reach that level.
