Another example where stats are irrelevent.
White was essentially to ISU what the messiah is to the Heat.
Essentially the point guard in an undersized power forward's body, chief ball handler, team's best defender, and ISU's top rebounder. All without even a pinky's worth of the messiah's athletism. Like the messiah....White is unselfish to a fault offensively.
White would not have close to that offensive freedom in the NBA. He's a better, more offensively talented version of Glen Davis....Albiet with more baggage. Like Davis, he's too small to play the 4 and not quick enough to play 3.
I'd love to have White on our roster. On the second unit. I think he'll fall to the second round. I could see Danny trading up to get him in the second round if White did fall
This.
But if Terrence Ross is still avalable and we pick him, I think that will be a miss for us. I'd go as much to say that I'd take Will Barton over him.
Whats the basis of the poor opinion on Ross? Ive seen him play and he passes the eye test. Has good size 6'6. Average length 6'7 wingspan and is a very efficient college scorer. He seems like the perfect pick at 18.
I love Ross. I have only seen him a couple times, and while I am not sure he will be a star (although he has the potential), he is a lock to be a quality NBA rotation player IMO. He is a very good defender, has good size, and is a very good athlete. While his offensive game is still developing, he passes the biggest test for me, when it comes to a shooter. He has a lightning quick release, and a high release point. This is what sets apart good college shooters who can only hit wide open shots in the NBA (our own Moore is a great example of this ), and true weapons in the NBA.
At the very least, he will be a guy who will be able to defend the 2 and 3, and will be a killer catch and shoot guy (which is something Rondo needs), but he is just a little more work on his ballhandling away from being a pretty complete player.
In other words, I would be very happy to have Ross in Boston, and would probably be my top choice of all of the wings that might be available when they pick.
Of course, I also don't expect him to be on the board when we pick. I think he will shoot up draft boards as teams get him in for workouts, and as other guys start slipping/dropping out.
