I was initially scared off by his issues too.  But I just think the upside is too hard to ignore.  At 20 and 21, solid is nice but a new era is here and he could be a huge talent.

Also don't forget the asset value.  If for some reason he doesn't fit perfectly here, there will be another GM who would take him on in a trade.

He is a headcase, and I think his talent is overrated.  He has a well rounded game, but he is not great at anything, is not explosive, and looks like a tweener to me.  He is the kind of guy you take a flyer on in the second round, because if he can get his head right, he could be a useful player...like a smaller Boris Diaw...but in the first round he is not worth it.

I think people are pumping him up by saying he would be a lottery pick if he didn't have character issues.  I think if he didn't have character issues, his talent would get him drafted in the late teens or twenties.  With the issues, he drops IMO.

You really think he's smaller than Diaw?  I think he's bigger, especially in terms of bulk.  Sure he's carrying some extra pounds, but he's got a massive frame: very capable of holding position in the post against NBA 4s and 5s.

With his length, strength and rebounding numbers, he also projects to be a better rebounder than Diaw.

I feel he is a great talent, but to big of a risk to give him the guarantied 1st round contract.

I think that late 1st rounders are made to be gambled on. There are just so few spots on a basketball team- cheap role players can be found; you don't need to draft them like in the NFL. I think that the winning strategy is to draft for high upside players if you're picking in the 20s.

The only problem with this gamble is that the NBA is a business. Danny will have to get ownerships blessing on drafting him in the first. I don't think they will want to pay a kid for 3 years to play basketball who isnt going to get on the team plane. Just my gut feeling.

You speak of his length, where do you find his stats. I mean he looks to have long arms and big hands.

To me his actual physical stats will be the deciding factor as to where he goes. His issues are an open book everyone knows. And his skill set is evident and although He played well against more than 1 projected lottery player Is he realy 6 foot 8 and what is his wingspan and standing reach?
6'8" is not short for todays PF's.
