Some call Danny's lack of activity on the deadline a good thing, others disagree...what about you?

I think he should have pushed JO's contract. He could have tried for Beasley. They were kind of biting on JO + cap room. Maybe I'm mistaken.

But overall, I thought it was okay because now I see teams are waiving players left and right (well, maybe not really left and right but Terrence Williams and Ronny Turiaf are apparently free agents). Signing them means we don't need to give up much at all.

So...overall, I think I would have tried harder to get one move in but keeping assets instead of rushing was pretty smart.

Some of you are really upset with this year's deadline. What would you have done?

I think I would have followed what I think were Ainge's constraints: no trading of first round picks unless you get a potential core player in return, no taking on salary for next season unless it is a young player who can be traded or a player who makes you think that the Celtics would be a contender if the team brought back Garnett and Allen for next season.

Violating either of those principles would have made me very unhappy.

Hahahahahahahahahahahha.

Thank you. Saved me all the typing. You said it perfectly.  It's gonna be rough for a bit but with teams asking for 1sts it was best not to Bite.

Try to move JO + Keyon to Minnesota for Beasley + Randolph. Add 1 or 2 second rounders, but no first round pick (that'd probably be trade breaker).

Not much else. Jason Thompson is playing well for the Kings, so they'd probably ask too much for him. Washington got Nene for McGee, so there's no way the Celtics beat that offer.

Moving Quis or Sasha like Danny did with Gody/Erden made more sense (imo) than last year, but probably there wasn't any chance to do so. Danny will waive/buy out some of them to make room for one(two) big(s).

I'm not satisfied with the outcome, but at least Danny sticks with his "summer of 2012 clear room" plan. And we still have 2 first rounders who could bring a couple of young studs.

Unless you  can trade a bag of balls for a time machine nothing was going to make any difference this season anyways.

No one wants our old guys enough to give us anything that was going to help going forward so Ainge did exactly what he should have done IMO.

wow his name is loose cannon but well thought out and makes complete sense tp

I would have tried to move ray but only if it would have improved team (not a 2nd rounder) more like okafor.  I would have tried to get camby but not given up future assets (1st rd pick).

I would have moved Ray for future assets. Started high asking for a good first this year, then a young cheap player, then a late first this year, then a protected future first, in the end I would have settled for a decent even if low potential cheap young player and multiple 2nds .

I also would have put a big push in to get JJ Hickson.

Celtics get: Beasley + Randolph
TWolves get: JO, Dooling + 2 2nd rounders

Would Minnesota have done likely done that trade? Does the $ match up? I would take that all day.

Who is a cheap young player you would have accepted with multiple seconds for Ray? What would you have given for Hickson?

Beasley might be able to be a good player in the nba if he is surrounded by good environment, teammates & coaches
but to me (not that he is signed) I'd rather have Jeff Green and his team game

My hope was that we would have at least picked up servicable players for the expiring contracts of the wounded JO and Wilcox.  Not even stars or anything, just rotation players that could fill spots, play roles, and eat some minutes while KG rests.  IMO, the cost to do that (in 2nd round picks and cash to make it happen) would be the price Wyc would have for postseason games this season.

Not sure what Camby went for, but imagine him next to KG for 25 minutes.  Holy crap.  He's ancient, but would fit in perfectly.  I'd have taken any rebounding big, actually.

I guess we're hoping for Turiaf now?

I would have started dismantling the team, even if it meant only picking up some 2nd rounders and improving the C's own draft position next year.  (Though I absolutely would not have given Rondo away for as little as was apparently offered.)  But I can see where this summer's FA goodies have been coming off the market, lessening the incentive to get Pierce's salary cleared too.

Also, the team played just well enough over the two weeks up to the deadline to get Wyc only focused on their chances for this year again.  (That doesn't seem to take much.)

And the team played just well enough over those two weeks that a good share of loyal fans would, as here on celticsblog, be furious if Danny came between them and yet another (this year, after last year) championship that was destined for Boston.

So if I were Danny, Wyc and CelticsNation would already be running me out of town this week.  Can't you just imagine last night's dispirited loss if it had come after another 'chemistry-destroying' trade?

I would have done what Danny did.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Traded Ray and KG for picks and expirings, or in KG's case even picks and a bad contract that goes only one more year(cap space will be worthless this offseason--nothing worthwhile out there, or nobody that wants to come to Boston).
Traded or released Sasha,Dooling, Daniels.
Bought out JO and Wilcox, or traded them for whatever they could bring.
Signed three of the best the D league has to offer.
Wait to see if any worthwhile young'uns get released, waived or bought out(ie. may TWilliams).
Given Doc the ultimatum to play his young players or point him to the door!
Waited for the draft with hopefully 6 or 7 picks.
