Walton? Seriously? Do the Lakers have a magic genie that forces teams to think these trades are good?

In all honesty, he is a big fat expiring next year, so that's probably the reason. Plus, he can be serviceable on the court.

I didn't realize Walton had another year on his contract at $6 million.  What on earth were the Cavs thinking?

Lakers get Sessions + $12 million ($6 million salary, $6 million luxury tax) for a late #1?  Yeah, that's not so bad.

People think getting a first round pick for Sessions (who is expiring and unecessary with Irving on the team)

Like Amico or not, here's what he says the final deal is:

Cavs send Sessions & Eyenga to LA for Luke Walton and 2012 first rounder. Confirmed by Lakers side, but not Cavs

That they're willing to pay 6 million for a late first round pick after getting the first overall pick for 14 million I guess.

I just realized that too. Not to mention Christian Eyenga has a lot of potential. Cavs got hosed

Screw Dan Gilbert.

He's the biggest complainer about these one-sided trades - including ones that help the Lakers, and yet today his franchise was involved in possibly the biggest one on deadline day

Huge acquisition for Lakers.  A PG who actually passes first.

Cutting a sleazeball like Fisher's minutes, however, will make for less sleazy flopping, and cheapshot basketball for the Lakers.

I'm sure Artest and Bynum  will be more than happy to pick up the slack.

And that should tell you that that the Celtics would almost certainly have to take on a Walton-like contract if they were to move Ray Allen in a deal that brings back a 2012 first round pick from a playoff-bound team.

The only downside for LA is that Sessions has a player option which he will almost certainly turn down for next year.  So, they'll either have to commit to quite a bit more money or watch him walk away.

They had to move sessions tho, he wasn't sticking around after this year., he's no longer needed to "mentor" irving or whatever - irving is already where he needs to be.

Suprized they couldn't get more tho, stockpiling another 1st is great but burdening yourself with the corpse of luke walton for a year doesn't seem necessary.

Hollywood Mitch strikes back... congrats to the Lakers, it's a win win for them.

But I don't think they'll be much better, I like Sessions, but Co-b is still there, making his teammates unhappy. And then there's Mike Brown.

Good move by the Lakers, crappy move by the Cavs.

As part of the Ramon Sessions package, the Lakers sent Jason Kapono to Cleveland, league source tells Y! Sports.

Not sure if this is instead of Walton, or in addition to.

My thoughts exactly.  Good trade?  Sure.  Game changer?  No.
