Looks like Dwight might go to the Highest bidder?

With news coming out now that The Magic are saying you either sign with us or we trade you tomorrow by 3, Who would be dumb enough to offer a ton up for him? If I am the Nets I'm backing off and saying hey we can keep our assets and get him in FA. Just want to here some peoples thoughts on this. Do you think a team like Us or L.A. Will take a chance try a trade for him and sell him on the City? Just bringing this up cause I don't think there is anyway NJ says Oh lets do a deal now..

P.S. I think the Magic played this hand very poorly. To do this now? I just think they are going to get low balled and then if not he just walks.

If they open it up to "best offer wins" and teams get in a bidding war, then they can still get good value.


If they are quiet about this, the offer get less.



The key for them is if a team can get a trade in place and a contract extension.  Then, they will get top dollar.

I'd be calling if I was Ainge.  If you trade Rondo and don't take back a bad contract, you would then have the cap space to bring in Deron in the summer to pair with Dwight.

Yeah but i guess the only team that would only really get into a bidding war then would be NJ and LAL becuase they have the most to offer and LAL could try to sell him because they cant sign him in the off-season. Nj might feel that threat and try and trade for him. I see what your saying. Well I do think Boston will throw thier hat into the rink but we would need a third team more than likely.

Whoever takes Dwight is going to have to take Turkoglu, I would guess, or give another team involved to absorb that terrible contract. I imagine the Nets are going to get jumpy and pull the trigger, afraid of Dwight resigning with whoever he is traded to.

Magic most likely aren't going to get enough value this late trading Howard. Once again the player has more control on where he ends up because management waited way too long to do something.

I suspect Orlando management lost it with yesterday's fiasco about Dwight being granted permission to make personnel, coaching, and GM decisions if he were to sign an extension and then saying that he wants to finish out the season after asking to speak with certain teams about trades.

It wouldn't suprise me if that relationship has hit the breaking point and Orlando is tired of being held hostage.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Teams are going to compete against each other for Howard the value will be there. The only thing the Magic did wrong was wait so long. Now they have less time to think over trades and look for better offers. Otis Smith should be gone by the end of this season regardless of what happens.
