I've thought for quite a while that, money aside, Okafor is the player that makes the current roster a contender that's probably really available, so go and take him.  A prptected 1st is fine w/me.  JO, Wilcox, Dooling is the salary combination that makes it work.  I think it keeps KG around for another 2 yrs, too.

Rondo/Bradley/Moore
2012 1st/Ray
Pierce/JGreen/2012 1st
KG/Bass/JJJ
Okafor/Steimsma

With KG/Okafor/Bass sopping up the big minutes, and

Pierce/JGreen/Ray sopping up the wing minutes, and

Rondo at PG, and Bradley and either JJJ or Steimsma filling in for 10 minutes as 8th and 9th in the rotation, and I'd say we're all set.  Add 2 1sts into the mix for next year plus the development of JJJ and Bradley along with JGreen's return, and we're not gambling in FA, but a nice destination.

Go get Okafor?

If Kaman gets bought out, what are the chances of his signing with us over the Heat? Good or not so good?

Getting him and Odom after buyouts would be nice.

Seems easier to match salries in a trade w/ Okafor than Kaman.

(Edited out statement about what it would take to get Kaman; I misclaculated his 15% trade kicker which already executed in the Clippers-Hornets trade.....my apologies)

i would make the trade for okafor and noh pick in exchange for our pick or clipper's pick and whoever we need to trade to balance salaries.
JO, Wilcox, Dooling (all expiring) + both of our first rounders for Okafor and their unprotected lotto pick (it's going to be top 5)

Even then, the Hornets say no.

But if they didn't it would give us a center this year that we so badly need (Okafor) and something to cling to for the future (top 5 pick).  Tell them to buy out Kaman too so we can have a shot at him.

Not so good, but it sounds like New Orleans is more likely to offer Kaman an extension than to buy him out.

The kid may have a monobrow but he can block shots like no one's business.  If we drafted players by looks would we have taken Bird or McHale?

If the rumours are true(about Washington ready to sacrifice send Blatche and Hornets ready to sacrifice send Okafor);

Celtics: D. Howard+A. Blatche
Magic: E. Okafor+J.Crawford+G.Vasquez+Wizards Lottery pick+Hornets Lottery pick+Cash(around $7M) from Celtics
Wizards: J.J. Redick+B. Bass
Hornets: C.Duhon+expiring contracts(O'Neal+Wilcox+Dooling)

plus Magic recieve $13M next year(Redick-Crawford, Duhon-Vasquez and Howard-Okafor swap)

Wizards don't send McGee for Blatche(Wall/Redick/Bass/McGee)

All teams would win but still long shot...

Damm I really want Howard :)

Getting the top 2 or 3 picks in the draft could be enticing for Orlando, but I don't know if it's enough. In any case, Washington would be crazy to trade that pick for Redick and Bass, and the Hornets would have to be even crazier to trade theirs for what they are getting. Without those two picks, the whole thing unravels. Pretty much only we win in this scenario :P
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

There is only two years left on that contract. It's not so bad.

I have to believe that New Orleans can move Okafor without costing themselves another asset.

i would. but hey, if they're willing to throw in minny's draft pick, i'd be ok with that, either (:

i also came up with such steal type of deal:
ray to IND
okafor + ind 1st + minny's 1st to BOS
so wanted cap freedom to NOLA...

Personally

I wouldn't mind

Boston 1st round pick + Clippers 1st round pick + Expiring contracts + JJJ

for

Okafor + NOH 1st round pick top 2 protected + Houston 1st round pick
