edit: no clue how I accidently posted this in history... meant to put it in celtics talk...

So ive been thinking a bit about what next years celtics lineup could potentially be based on trade rumors and FA signing...

pg- Rondo (banking on us keeping him)
sg- Jeff Green
sf- Paul Pierce (same as rondo, im expecting to keep him)
pf- J.Smoove
c- D12 (if intrigued at the thought of playing with both rondo and smith and creating a young and fast team. If not him, maybe someone like Kaman idk)

bench

pg- avery bradley
sg- pietrus
sf- beasley
pf- JJJ
c- Wilcox

This line-up is banking on...

A. KG retiring

B. Ray Allen, Bass, and picks being used to land Smith from the Hawks, or something along those lines

C. Moore, Daniels, Steimsma, Sasha... used as filler in trades or maybe signed again or something.

Just my idea of a potential lineup, not to mention it would be a fun team to watch

If we coud get Smith but not DH, I think KG has 2 yrs at C in him, and I also think Pierce can play 2 effectively if he's only a #2 or 3 offensive guy.

Rondo
Pierce
JGreen
JSmith
KG

Bradley
Ray or Pietrus for cheap
Beasley as 6th man
JJJ or Bass for cheap
Wilcox or FA Center for reasonable money

Moore
Steimsma
Draft Picks

Enough?

My prediction:

PG - Rondo
SG - Ray Allen
SF - Paul Pierce
PF - Kevin Garnett
C - Jermaine O'Neal

With Bass, Jeff Green and Avery Bradley off the bench.  We'll also have JaJuan Johnson and two first round picks off the bench.  Maybe Pietrus.  Possibly we'll use our MLE to add a Nenad Krstik or maybe take a wild chance on Greg Oden.  Solid 35-47 win team.

Need a true center Kristic might be enough; but with an aging KG need Solid help at Center and need Bass back. Wilcox is more of a PF.

You serious?

I think Danny has bigger plans than that.

LOL yeah i'm pretty sure thats just this year's team with maybe a couple of players from last year's team.

Im not sure Danny's gonna be satisfied with another year of treading water to be honest.

This is obviously everybody's favorite pipe dream. If that Hawks trade did go through and we somehow got Beasley as well, then a couple things: 1) I can't see KG retiring with that level of talent left on the team and 2) Pietrus would start or something, Green can't play the 2. I'd imagine Beasley, Pierce or Green would be moved for a more traditional 2.

But yeah, that's the best-case scenario that's probably not going to happen.

Yuck!  Double yuck!

I have faith that Danny won't settle for another go around with basically the same group.

I mean, there's gotta be zero chance that Jermaine O'Neal is back, at the very least. The dude is clearly retiring. Ray and KG I could see back at reasonable deals, depending on how they are feeling. But JO I just can't envision being in a starting lineup, let alone in a rotation, next year.

Unless the plan revolves around trading all our top guys for future prospects and starting a lengthy rebuild (lots of lotto years), I don't think you're gonna have a better team than that next year, unfortunately.  We'll probably just stand pat until Pierce falls off the books.
