Could there be a deal for Allen

After watching tonights game I really noticed how much more speed and athleticism the celts have with Bass and Pietrus in for Allen JO.

Not saying Pietrus is better at all let's clarify that now.  I just think he is a better fit with the starters.  Pierce isn't a spring chicken and neither is garnet.  It's much better to give Rondo some young bucks who can run than JO and Allen.

I really think they should bring Ray off the bench!!  He would be  a focal point, with the starters they don't know who to go to.  Pierce, KG Rondo is fine and Pietrus can space the floor.

Rondo with speed around him is fun to watch.   I hope they could trade Ray for J Smith plus a pick.   

Then next year if they get Jeff Green back they would have an amazing up tempo team.

This is a possible squad and they would be fun to watch. 

Doc Rivers should definitely experiment with that. If Manu Ginobili can come off the bench for the Spurs, than Ray Allen at 36 should be able to swallow his pride and do so.

I like the comment about Pietrus starting. He seems to "rev up" the team earlier than Ray.  Ray is a ton better shooter, but Pietrus bring a more rounded package to the lineup and loves drawing the hard to defend superstars.  He is heavier and stronger and can wear down people like Wade and Rose.  I belive we are going to need him BAD against the Knicks taller guards.  I'm for starting him.

Why would you overpay for a guy that the other team is trying to get rid of? Not to mention the fact that Ray Allen's contract is expiring this summer and will save them 12+ million next season.

I was thinking that you might have to give up Johnson or Wilcox... but i really don't want to do that.

Maybe you can throw in JO and take on another one of their guys to help ATL save more money.

The logic for Atlanta continues to escape me.    They lose Smith in order to get maybe 10m under the cap (after considering the addition of 1st rounder salaries).  If C's send KG for Smith and Williams, Atlanta gets more salary relief but would have only Joe and Al to entice who?  And I want KG here if Smith comes here.
Maybe a package with Ray the 2 1sts and JJJ gets them thinking they could rebuild with the assets that brings them plus their own 1st.  Wouldn't Ray have more value to a contender?
