Pierce's numbers have been down since Rondo returned from injury.  He's obviously getting less touches and involvment in the offense with Rondo back, as he was carrying the ball up often in Rondo's absence.  I think it's been tough for him to get in the flow of the offense at times.

Pierce did put up 20 and 23 points in the 2 games Rondo missed due to suspension.

I think it goes deeper than that.  His rebounding numbers are low. No effort because he can't.  He is old.

Maybe he was told he was going to be traded?

Well we know if Paul is hurt he isn't going to let it be known as use it as an excuse.  His foot speed has looked pretty bad on defense, filling lanes and rebounding.
only he and maybe his team would know why

Say what you will, but I swear I think he smokes weed before some games.  If you go back and watch (I think) the home game against Chicago, when he was being interviewed (by ESPN)  before the game in that little room with the black curtain in the background he was certainly high, no question in my mind (I know a cooked person when I see one), and it seemed to be lingering throughout the game and less of an issue in the 4th quarter.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but it explains his hesitancy and lack of quickness.

On another note, his release is consistently timed late and as a result the ball hits the front rim.  His legs look weak and he is definitely still dealing with a foot injury.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Maybe (hope not) he's just upset of the trade rumors involving him. It's tough to concentrate and give it your all when you have no idea if you will be playing for some other team in the next few days. It's probably getting to him. He's a loyal Celtic and I think it'll be tough for him to hear that he's being shopped just because we are not winning.

Or (maybe this one) he's just old.

If it makes him that clutch then...maybe...

I think he burned himself out trying to carry the team while Rondo was out.

I don't think there is anything "off" with any of the Big Three.  This is just the stage in their careers they are at

LOL!

I always thought Daniels looked like he was fresh off of smoking a 1/4 ounce.

He definelty has been off past couple weeks.   He must be hurtin or sick or something again. He just looks demoralized and uninterested to me.

I guess we'll eventually find out, if its personal, mental , physical or female.

Yea he is old , but why the erratic huge up and downs .  Something more than old age.

I'm going to go with feeling a trade coming on or having tensions with various teammates (Rondo?). Also, he has been more out of shape and older. But there have been times when he has been clutch. So I think its more mental than anything.

I thought Pierce's statements during the All-Star weekend about lack of execution suggested some chemistry issues - involving Rondo, for that matter.

I think Pierce has lost some confidence on Rondo's ability to have such a large role running the offense.

Injuries to his heels and other tired out of shape components he is trying to play through??????

The same can be said about a lot of players in the NBA, though.
