Dwight Howard to NY Knicks?

Looks like Peter Vecsey is also sturring up some rumors on Dwight to NY for either Melo and Chandler or Amare and Chandler. Does not seem like a good trade for Orlando's end but what do you think?

To me, Orlando is taking on long-term contracts in the case of Amare and Chandler with both men having injuries in the past and are known to be injury prone. I think there needs to be a third team in this deal where Orlando gets some expiring contracts and draft picks to build their future team.

I can easily see this happening, Dwight and Jeremy Lin will keep the Knicks profitable for a decade.

If I where the Knicks, I would do the Melo and Chandler for Howard deal, but not the Amare and Chandler deal. Howard and Amare together would be a terror. Plus, they have already shown that they are better without Melo.

The NYK trade is something of a worry. 

But Vecsey makes a couple more good points in his column, including the chances that Orlando rides it out, with S&T implications, and the farce that sees Phil Knight in the Hall of Fame.

What I don't see at all is the Milwaukee deal: the chances of DH signing there are between zero and zilch.

If the injuries are such a big concern, Orlando could probably just go with Melo instead of Amare.

But Smith could well be lured into thoughts of being an immediate  contender with that deal and buy it.

I also think there's something to the possibilities of either a SVG getting axed to keep DH in the offseason or a S&T.

If I were an Orlando fan, I think I'd be happier getting Amare Stoudemire from New York rather than Andrew Bynum from LA.
