Thank God many of you aren't really GMs. You would ruin the Celtics for years with cockamamie, Pitino-esque deals. I've seen cap killing deals for washed-up and/or overrated players such as Biedrens and Al Jefferson. You can't contend in this league with those guys as cornerstones.

Also, many of these deals are "wishful thinking" that would would make no sense for the other team whatsoever.

I'm all for throwing around trade proposals - it's fun, but let's be reasonable! Now let's trade our entire bench for Monta Ellis!

Ha - been on Celticsblog for many years, rarely check out the forums. Honestly takes too much time to find intelligent threads.

The worst thing you can do in the NBA is sign or trade for "stopgap" players that ensure mediocrity (32-48 wins). If you can't be a contender, then you're better off at the bottom for a couple of years to build around Top draft picks. Talent wins, and cap room is a precious commodity.

My point is -- none of the stuff you observed in the original post is new or particularly surprising if you've been here a while.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- the "Trade Ideas and Rumors" forum might as well be called the "Jokes" forum.
