The way this is going, they aren't getting into the dance.  The schedule is a whole lot tougher from here on out and what is our record now?

In 2010 the veterans on this team still had a whole lot more left in the tank then they do today.  This is reality folks.

Isn't it "Throw in the towel" or "Waive the white flag"?

The OP must be REALLY giving up :)

yep ...with abunch of washed up superstars and bench full of medocre or worse players , we are in "basketball limbo".  Nowhere's ville .  Can win a  games here and there , but no real chance to be in the hunt.

We made the Pistons look like a decent team. And they aren't at all.

Not Even Jeremy Lin can save us now as old and depleted of talent.   ;D

I'd rather suffer with rookies learning (at least its interesting) and have some hope , than to watch JO and PP walk up and down the court.

I see no hussle , no allstar play , no desire, on 3 out of 4 trips down court.  If you are too old to play ...then PLEASE QUIT.  IF you are too sick to PLAY ..then sit on the bench.

This effort is pathetic and is a black mark on Celtics basketball.

I hate the way these guys coast and its come back to bite them over and over and over and over

They NEVER coasted during the title run. What did they learn from it? NOTHING! They learned NOTHING!

They're not coasting; they just don't have it anymore.  Ray 36, KG 35, Paul 33.  The only reason this team won the title was those 3 guys, and they've only gotten older with the only support coming in the form of Rondo who is good but still very flawed.

first...to just unmix a few metaphors...white flags are for waving, towels are for throwing.  ;D

not sure if my post is more a case of throwing white flags to the ground or simply waving towels.

i appreciate the lessons in rhetorics, but where i come from and if you talk about sports, towels are more appropriate, because we don't carry white flags in games, but yeah, you have a point, not all towels we use are white... i understand where the aggresion comes from, we are all frustrated, the very least alienated, because so much has  been expected from this bunch,  our hopes were shortchanged with all these inconsistencies, probably its proper that we just cross our fingers (and toes too..) along the way that things would get better, but logic tells us it won't though..asking for a miracle is too much and faith favors only those who believe, i can't believe in them if they show signs that they don't in themselves...may it be a towel or a flag, i am ready now..

There's no switch.  We sacrificed this season to make a final run at it last year.  Everyone knew this was a "Bridge season" going into it...I think some just forgot how painful it is to watch those types of seasons.

The beauty about statements like "the way this is going":  they are statements on the present, not the future.

The reason I brought up 2010 is because the same statments made then are being made now, with the same rationale.  I can't blame anyone for feeling that way; we are all watching the same games.  But I know there were many "the way this is going" statements in 2010 that were followed by "we will lose in the 1st round."

We can talk all we want about paces and rates and streaks.  The way I see it is you have a team with a very legitimate shot at making the playoffs, even as a low seed, that can beat nearly any team in the NBA in a 7-game series.  I have seen nothing yet this year that changes my mind on that point.

That is not to say they WILL accomplish anything I think they can accomplish, only that they CAN accomplish what I think they accomplish.

Ray 36, KG 35, Paul 34 just like his uniform number right now

Dwayne Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh (to a lesser extent) were playing on seperate teams back in 2009-2010. Now they are on the same team. Huge difference. Then there are those Bulls with reigning MVP PG Derrick Rose and first time All-Star Luol Deng who historically shuts down our best scorer, maybe in all of C's History (since he just passed Larry Bird ;) ) against a team that has an offense the Nets, Wizards, Bobcats, Hornets and the like have no reason to envy.

So are we gonna fall 10 games below .500, make two desperation trades and then try to get back into the Eastern Conference Playoff Picture only to finish 9th and be left with sucky contracts for the next three seasons and no draft picks.

Or are we going to stand pat and blow this pig up at the end of the season.

I like option 2 and continue to whine about how the Celtics are dead last in rebounding rates and near the bottom in turnover and free throw differential.

Either way, I doubt this team will wake up in time and be a factor in the 2012 playoffs.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

The team is in salary cap hell right now.  The bloated contracts of Ray, KG, and JO make things a bit difficult, nearly as bad as LaFrenz and the others back in The Dark Times.

Thankfully, we have the summer to look forward to rather than three more years of this.

now that we are shorthanded because of rondo's rage, KG's personal issues, wilcox just limped out with a groin injury, bass is still day to day and everybody who's supposedly serviceable are mimicking zombies on the court, what's the worst thing that could still happen to us?
