IMO, Ray should join the bench unit. That group would outscore every bench in the league.

They could use a pure pg though. :-\ Come on Danny, make it happen.

Pierce plays great as a point forward and the offense is almost completely different. If Doc could somehow have Pierce play half the game as point forward and Rondo run the point at the other half, the defense is not going to enjoy it.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
His help defense is so erratic, sometimes he comes across and swats everything that drives middle.
Other times he is lost in no mans land and whoever is driving just waltzes in for an easy bucket.

I do love his energy running the floor and tenacity on offensive boards.

Biggest problems for him right now are:
*Understanding the defense (will probably improve dramatically over next 2 weeks filling in for JO/Bass).
*He is extremely foul prone vs length.
*Shoots almost as bad as Rondo from the free throw line, so teams will start hacking him down low- he is powerful though so he does finish with dunks often which is great to see.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I agree with pretty much all of that. I will say that energy players like Wilcox can only get better as they learn to play with the system and get used to guys. We're still seeing plays like where Pierce threw it out of bounds because he expected Johnson to roll but the kid looked for the shot instead. Once those two get more on the same page, they'll be in business.

Nice to see Rondo with someone to run with in Wilcox and JjJ. Green's loss has been huge.

I'd like this as well.  His rebounding/speed/interior finishing ability is most useful with the starters.  Less bigs to hide him on defensively, but I think he'd be a net positive overall, at least relative to JO.

Between him, JJJ, and Steamer, their was that little extra hustle on the boards (at least from what I saw). His best moves this game were running with Rondo on fast breaks (JJJ too) which Pierce, ray, and KG cant do without forcing rondo to slow down and or commit a turnover
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I would like to see him start from now on and have JO come off the bench.
I'd like to see JON go home and just work on staying healthy as possible for later.

Depending on the match up it could work.  He's just not long enough though.  JO is a true big.

Tonight was one of the worst matchups he's going to get with Noah, Boozer, Asik and Gibson all rotating in.

truly bad. His shooting percent is pathetic and he gets hurt. He needs to not play. I'm not sure he could beat Yao Ming in a foot race.

Been very solid today so far.  I think I would like him starting too.  Our traditional starting lineup has no athleticism.

1st unit
Rondo
Ray
Pierce
KG
Wilcox

2nd unit
Dooling
Bradley
Pietrus
Bass
JO
Given Bass out the next two weeks, I would like to see this lineup. Looked very good at times tonight and if there weren't so many turnovers, this wouldn't have been a close game.

That said, the entire team has to start thinking about getting defensive rebounds because Wilcox/KG can't do it themselves, JJJ can be pushed around way too easily and JO looks to have lost his ability to box out people.

I don't think it matters that much who starts.  Even if Wilcox comes off the bench, he can still play more minutes than Jermaine O'Neal.  I think a more interesting question is if Wilcox should play over Bass and O'Neal in the fourth quarter crunch time line up.

It can matter a lot... if Cox can start off, he has the opportunity to give a bunch of energy (scoring) right away so the starters don't come out lethargic like we do at times. Once he is acclimated I can see us getting leads and letting Jo come in and defend it! Then with bass coming in he can keep the energy up (AB and Pie too)! If it has time it could be huge for RR too as he will have someone on the starting unit to run with.

I liked today's lineup...

pg-rondo
sg-ray
sf-pierce
pf-wilcox
c-kg

Keep kg at center and have JO back him up, Bass/JJJ backing up Wilcox this was honestly are most athletic starting lineup we've had all season. I mean lets be real we were 18-7 at one point against the Bulls with this lineup it was perfect.

seems like an overwhelming majority are in favor of this but listening to doc's press conference i just got the idea he isn't sold that having wilcox starting would be good for us. When someone asked him about having someone who can run with rondo he answered, 'everyone can run'. Hopefully i'm reading too much into that.
