Lifetime Celtics fan, I want to make sure I make that clear before I get judged, and yes my lifetime is a longtime.  First I get annoyed when Celtic fans think every year we are going to win the title.  2nd, I hate after every loss we blame the refs.  The difference in FT disparity in Celtics/Lakers game has to do with what we know, we shoot jumpers and Lakers pounded it down low.  Common sense is you’re going to get fouled more playing in the paint then shooting jump shots. So please stop with the refs are paid off! Next we get on a 5 game winning streak and won 9 out of 10 and every Celtic fan jumps back on the bandwagon but once they lose they jump back off.  We beat crappy teams, Raptors, Wizards, Bobcats and a win over the Cavaliers.  NY we barely beat at home, and Memphis was shorthanded.  We got beat by elite teams like the Heat, Bulls, Lakers, Thunder, Pacers and Mavericks.  We played most of our games at home so far and look at our crappy record.  We should be looking at how we fair against the Elite (1-6).  That tells me we will not win the title this year as constructed.  We will not get by the Heat or Bulls in a 7 game series period.  I do not care if we win 10 in a row during the season, there is no way we can shut down James, Wade and Bosh consistently, and we can’t run with the Bulls.  Something needs to be done with the team.  I personally feel we need to keep the Big 3, Bash, Pietrus, Moore, JJJ. Maybe shuffle up the lineup but the rest are tradeable.  Not sure who or what we can get but we need to do something.  If any Celtic fan honestly thinks we can beat an elite team in a 7 game series please tell me how.  My suggestion if we cannot trade anyone, try a lineup like they use to do in to early 90’s with Bird and McHale.  We sent McHale to the bench for 6th man.  We mixed Bird and Parish with young guys like Lewis, Gamble and Pickney.  Use Rondo, Pietrus, Pierce, Bass or JJJ and Garnett at center. Or even go with Moore at PG although he’s a shooting guard. Rondo should not be in a close game in the 4th quarter, that was exposed against the Lakers. He literally is a liability on offense.  Can’t shoot jumpers can’t hit freethrows. So Celtic Management, even though you will never see this.  Either make a trade that won’t affect our chemistry or our future, or try a different line up!

The Miami Heat's record last year through most of the year against the elite teams was fairly abysmal.

Also I have their record against elite teams at 3-7:

Miami 0-1
Indiana 1-2
Dallas 0-1
Chicago 0-1
Oklahoma City 0-1
Orlando 2-0
Los Angeles L 0-1

I would consider the Knicks an elite team before the Magic.  Really? The Magic had one of the easiest schedules so far.  They are def not an elite team!

Sure, get rid of Howard and that team stinks but Dwight Howard, the best center in the league and probably the second best player in the league, is still on that team. So given the fact that they have won 70% of their games and have one of the best players in the game on their team, a player that can win a playoff series almost singlehandedly, then, yeah, I consider them elite.

Ask majority of people and I would bet most wouldnt say the Magic are elite.  Either way, we still need to do something.  Losing to the Raptors is embarassing and then watching the Sixers and the Knicks beat the Lakers makes me wonder what's wrong with us?

Think it comes down to how you define "elite".

Right now, IMO, you have OKC, Chicago, and Miami on the first tier.  That's it.

rather than using a subjective label of elite.....be definitive and say teams that would make the playoffs, if the playoffs began today.
