So I was one of those guys who was saying stuff like "thank god the rondo for gasol trade isnt true" and "what a dumb trade if the celtics did it" and stuff like that...

then I watched this game... Look first off idc if the guys in his 30s hes beasting. He has post moves, rebounding skills, and plenty of other things to bring to the table that this team desperately needs...

Having him we could stick him at the 4 and put kg at the 5... at least then kg would stay under the rim (im very sick of his jump shots at the moment he needs to be more aggressive)

I still don't like the idea of trading rondo for him... it might be the only way to get him, though I will admit the thought of rondo playing in yellow and gold sickens me...

You have to admit though this game did prove why the trade would work for both teams. Lakers desperately need a pg (fisher and blake sucked bad) while the Celts desperately need another big man.

Oh and that block on Ray that cost us the game has nothing to do with this either ;)

C's need a big that can score in the post and rebound, but I really hate Gasol.

Yeah, but I bet you would like him on the C's.

yeah, in the short term I think it might actually make us better -- i don't know if we'd really be a contender, though.  after this season, pau gasol wouldn't be too hard to move if we didn't want to commit to him long term.

Truth:  Gasol has  more value  than rondo and the lakers would  not make this trade.

very true. you have to remember as well pgs are far easier to come by in this league than big men... I like rondo but we could find another pg, maybe aaron brooks or sessions as a short term replacement then make a big move for dwilliams or something depending on the market

If we could swing a trade for Ramon Sessions (underrated passer) and get Gasol, we could have a team with a sneaky shot at making it to the ECF or maybe even the Finals.

Would probably involve helping the Lakers get Dwight, though.  But in the short term it could be worth it, since the Lakers might still not even make the Finals.

I don't see why LA would want Rondo.

I don't like the idea of Rondo and Kobe together. They'd be at cross purposes.

Yeah I've always liked Sessions and I think he'd strive in the starting role over the bench pg like he is on the cavs.

pg-sessions
sg-ray
sf-pierce
pf-gasol
c-kg

(4 and 5 interchangeable)

That's a scary line up...

the moral of the story is the lakers don't run a triangle offense under Mike Brown and Kobe needs to realize he can't be the pg

We have enough soft bigs.

Rondo for Gasol?  Hell no.

Rondo for Bynum?  Now you're talking.

Exactly! And Sessions CAN SHOOT! If we can swing this deal without giving up too much (retain Pietrus, Bass and the 1st rd picks), that would be awesome!

Gasol's skillset has always been one I admired.  It stinks that he's on the Lakers, because I can't root for him anymore.

Rondo + JO + Dooling for Gasol + Blake?  Yeah, I think I'd do that.  And yeah, the Lakers probably wouldn't, because Rondo ≠ CP3.

I don't think Gasol has been "soft" since 2008.  His softness certainly didn't stop him from grabbing offensive boards, scoring in the post, playing good defense, or blocking shots last night.
