My Niners would listen to you. As long as you leave us Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis and one of the Smith Brothers (Aldon or Justin), you can take anybody else.

Well, you all could be diehard Redskins fans (me).

New England will more than likely contend for next several years.

I can only hope that Washington will make the playoffs next year.
I'm with you GF, a fellow Redskin fan that can only hope to even sniff the playoffs next year   :(

Pats have some significant holes to plug but should feel really fortunate to have gotten as far as they did with that defense and offense.  Brady is still one of the best QBs in the game and he makes up for a lot of deficiencies.  He just played less than superhuman in the conference finals and superbowl and as a result, the Pats didn't win.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
I am also a die-hard Redskins fan. I want to make the playoffs the same year we win the Super-Bowl. I dont think Ill see that in my lifetime, so be it. Ill be happy to go to draft day every year and make believe that we will draft the necessary components to win it all, but Im very realistic about those chances; so I live with that eternal illusion. In the meantime Im happy the Giants won this year. My brother, a Giants fan, died last September> I hope he found out about last night's win.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

No.
Tom Brady is one of the greatest all time, and currently a top 5 QB right now (I'd put him at #3 behind Rodgers and Eli).  You don't trade that away for "potential" especially in football where it is notoriously difficult to project how well a college player will play in the pros.

After last night im not sure if I put Brady above Eli, but I still do put Brees and Rodgers at the top together.

Yeah, it's Rodgers / Brees / Eli / Brady.

I have no idea how I rank them right now...

I think all somewhere together.  I can't distinguish Eli from Brady b/c of one game.  Eli has a very strong and balanced supporting team around him and only led NYG to a 9-7 reg. season record.  But after that game, I no longer say that Brady is certainly better than Eli.  And Rodgers' team lost worse to NYG than the Pats did.  I think the 4 of them are all roughly equal.

Huh?

The Giants were one of the worst rushing teams in the NFL this year, and their offensive line in particular struggled a lot. Their defense wasn't playing well either until later in the year when they got healthy. I don't think they were balanced at all for the majority of the season, for most of it they completely relied on Eli and the passing game to win.

They got hot and healthy in the playoffs, over the regular season they were a very imbalanced team.

sorry to hear about your brother.  that would be the only reason I could think of that a Skins fan would ever be happy for the Giants.

I have Brees in as my #4 (didn't mean to slight him by not including him in my original post). I'd go: Rodgers, Eli, Brady, Brees.  But not a whole lot of separation among those top four. Big drop off from there.
Celtics fan for life.

Their rush statistics confuse me.  They have 2 very capable running backs in Ahmad Bradshaw (missed 4 games) and Brandon Jacobs.  They were able to run it in for 17 TD's (6th most in NFL), so despite their low Y/G and average per carry, they seem to have been capable of imposing their will with the run when they needed to.  They showed this in the playoffs too.

I still think that Eli has a lot of talented players around him.  Even when players like Bradshaw and Hicks were injured, they had very solid replacement players like Jacobs, Manningham, and Cruz.  And a ton of talent on the defensive line.  I didn't follow the G-Men that closely though, maybe there were injuries?

I feel evil just clicking on this thread. I would never ever ever ever want to trade Tom Brady, even if all he could do was crawl across the field, but if I had a gun to my head, I would consider Roy's idea. I know that signing Peyton would be blasphemy, but getting a bunch of picks while having little to no drop off in production from the qb position would have to be something to at least consider.

But, no, Bill and Tom are the New England Patriots. It will be so weird when they are both gone...
