How would you feel if they'd won the first two games of the season?

Let's say the Celtics had completed those comebacks against the Knicks and Heat, but everything else remained the same about the season.  They'd have a win against a quality team on the road at Miami, but would have still had that bad game against the Hornets on the next night.  They'd be 14-8, which would still only be the 10th best record in the NBA and the 6th best record in the East.

If you think they are a fringe contender, would you upgrade the Celtics' chances of winning a title to better than Philly or Indiana?  If you're an advocate for blowing it up now, would you still be pessimistic?

I never allow myself to play the "what if" game...

You can also do this for wins we earned, that could also have been losses.

This type of thinking cuts both ways.....

It really wouldnt change my feelings about the team's prospects in the playoffs.  It might make me feel like theyre a bit more competitive right now, though.

I don't think it would change the current quality of this team or its playoff chances one bit, but I do wonder if anyone will admit that it might affect how they perceive the quality of this team.

I know that throughout this year we have seen how gritty and tough this team is. Comeback after comeback. With PP on the floor for those two games I truly believe we would've won.

with out starting 5 healthy and our bench playing the way it has, I'm not scared of the heat or chicago... I know they can beat us, but I also feel as if we can beat them as well.

Really hard to say because Pierce was out those games.  I look more at how the team played, versus just the record.  Suppose we won the first two games, we still had several stretches where we were just plain awful.  How any 3-5 minute windows have there been this season where we did not get a single field goal?  In the long run weaknesses and deficiencies will catch up and show.

I have no problem with those really close, really good losses against contenders.

NO was the only game where we really got embarrassed.  Most of our losses would have different outcomes if the games were called fairly.

With PP I think we would have won one of them if not both.  So it really didn't bother me that much.  We still have not seen our teen complete on the floor in shape.  We are two to three games away from Rondo being there now.   I don't think JO will be but the other guys are rounding into form.

This team reminds me of the late 80s/ early 90s Larry Bird Celtics. They could always make the playoffs, but I never expected anything after they got pass the first round. I never thought that older team had a much of a chance against the good athletic teams like the Bulls or the Blazers.


***Those days do remind me of that great Larry Bird game against the Blazers.
