http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1194171/index.htmThey get caught up in the mainstream thinking that the Celtics are too old, too slow, and too soft to compete in todays NBA. That they should trade Pierce, Ray Allen, and KG to get younger and more mediocre. Sorry, the Celtics need and demand quality and can always reload on former Middle Class Free Agents on 1 year contracts to prove themselves. And build through the draft and foriegn free agents. You must preserve your winning culture with high character guys. There is no place in this league for the Sydney Wicks, Curtis Rowes, Todd Day's, Greg Minor's, and more recently the Mark Blounts. We need to avoid taking on bad overpaid players "looking for a fresh start". Doc Rivers will nail their butts to the bench real quick.
So the best solution is get as far as you can with this group and reload over the summer with younger, hungrier athletes with a desire to succeed and learn the Celtics of Doc River's way. Just saw Bill Simmons idea of two number ones and JO for Side Show Bob. Only problem is Joakim Noak, Bosh, Haslem, Pachulia and others would kick Varejao's butt on the inside so no thank you. Now if you want to throw in Rondo for Kyle Irving instead that might be a consideration but we need our two number ones to get young assets to increase our chances of acquiring a MAJOR piece.
So as we go through the next eight games which I hope get our winning % up, that Danny be patient and avoid trade busts.
