I think this is a realistic potential homerun deal for the C's.

Essentially rondo goes to portland for felton (fa) and batum (rfa with cheap caphold) and probably add in a pick. This allows portland to really play uptempo.

Pierce gives utah a reliable scorer and defender at the 2/3, a perpetual weakness for them an they relieve their frontcourt investment.

C's essentially go into 2012 with 45+ million in capspace, enough for 2 max guys, with bradley, moore, johnson off the bench, 2-3 first roumders in a good draft, plus hayward, batum and milsap at the 2-4 presenting a perfect bed for deron williams and dwight howard to team up for max deals.

D williams/ bradley
Hayward/moore
Batum
Milsap/johnson
Dwight

Plus fa's and 2-3 picks.

Something tells me that if we ship both Rondo Pierce out and don't resign Ray and they're all p---ed about it, there's a good chance we see both Ray and KG together next year in the playoffs - on the other team.

TP for such a crazy-wild-but-cool trade and FA scenario, though.  Complete makeover, Celtics Edition.

Utah are giving up too much for Pierce.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Utah wont dont this deal on account that they are giving up too much.

And again with the cap space thing, everybody is like "more cap space = max guys". There is a slim chance for Boston to sign Dwight since he does not want to be here, let alone him and Deron. So if they don't sign, Gordon signs somewhere else, what do we do with 45 million in cap? Do we offer max money to the likes of Beasley and Hawes? We already have enough cap next year.

Going back to the trade though, i'd love to have that lineup, just not seeing the Jazz doing it. I think Portland is giving up a little too much as well. Completely one sided for Celtics.
