Congrats to Novak.  This is now his 4th year in which he has won 3 out of the 4 Grand Slams.  Obviously he lost Wimbledon Final to Alcaraz this year.  In 2021, Medvedev beat him in the Final of the US Open.  In 2015, he lost in the French Open Final to Stan Wawrinka.  In 2011, Federer beat him in the semis of the French Open (Fed would lose to Nadal in the Finals).

Alcaraz was upset today by Zverev. No Finals rematch for Carlos and Novak.  Zverev will face Medvedev in the semis while Djokovic takes on Sinner in the other one.

Coco Gauff made her first Aussie semis and will take on Sablenka, while Zheng Qinwen takes on unseeded qualifyier Dayana Yastremska.

Down goes Novak. Loses badly to Sinner in the semis. His first loss in Australia since 2018.

Djokovic vs. Alcaraz is set for Wimbledon Final

Should be a good one. Match starts at 9am ET tomorrow on ESPN. I think Alcaraz will win.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I'm not going to totally write Novak off, but it appears he may be done winning majors.  Didn't win the Aussie this year (he won his last 5 there and 10 overall) and he can't beat Alcaraz on grass and probably clay at this point. Next 2 majors are hard courts, see how he does, but if he doesn't win either, I think he ends up with the 24 he has now.  The new generation appears to finally have found some real replacements for the old big 3 of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic.

I didn't watch the Finals, but catching up with people who did it appears that the consensus is that Novak got beat, not just that he lost.

If this is an indicator of his decline I'll be glad to see him go.

Yeah, it was. Alcaraz has now won 4 majors. If he wins 2 per year for the next decade, he will tie Novak for 24 at the age of 31. If he can stay healthy, I think Alcaraz will pass Djokovic. I feel like Carlos is the most talented tennis player to ever play the game.

I know his 1st was at the US Open, but he hasnt done all that well on the hard courts since then. he is going to need to win consistently on the hard courts to have any shot at even getting to Federer let alone Nadal for Djokovic.

This year Carlos has a better record on hard court (13-2) than on Clay (12-3). He also won Indian Wells earlier this year (and last season) and will be the favorite at the US Open. He is elite on every surface.

He's never been past the QF at Australia and has just the 1 finals (the win) at the US Open.  That isn't going to get him anywhere near the all time record.

Pretty cool to see Nadal and Alcaraz playing doubles together. They took the first set.

Still don't quite understand this many male players winning 20+ major single titles, but I don't follow tennis closely like I used to.
Seems like Connors, McEnroe and Borg busted their gut to win 8, 7, 11 majors respectively during the 70's/80's era.
I've never sat down and looked closely at the numbers and I'm sure the more recent guys have simply played more years.
Just doesn't seem like enough titles to go around. Impressive.
