All that talk of signing Kevin Love is moot now folks.

I hope it gets done so we can end the Love to Boston speculation. Kids putting up great numbers on a mediocre TWolves team but I see him suffering from the Al Jefferson disease. I dont think he has what it would take to put these Celts over the top.

Maybe not, but I still like what he brings to the table. And I believe that he can be the best player on a contender, as long as you put a tough, defensive minded center beside him.

But right now, I'm starting to feel that Andrea Bargnani might have what it takes too. After he started playing defense this year, he has the best Points Per Possession defensive rating in the league. The sample is too small to be significant, but enough to show that he has definitely improved in that area. He just needs to play pf, and like Love and Dirk have a strong center beside him.

Is anyone really surprised by this? I mean, other than the modest price tag.

  • It's all about the TEAM!

That is the surprising part. That seems like a steal. Considering how old he is and how good he's getting and how in demand he would be elsewhere.

Reports elsewhere both local and national are saying it isn't a done deal yet.

The "modest" price tag is actually his max deal. The problem is that Love thinks he should be offered five years (as the Wolves' designated player), and their FO seems to believe, that it will be better to save that option.

But with their two other probable designated players (Rubio and Derrick Williams) in their rookie year, it does not make a lot of sense to me not to sign Love for five years.

I would think part of the problems is that he shares the same concerns about the Wolves front office as everybody else.

If I'm him, I don't see the advantage of signing with this team mid-season.

I agree with this. I mean, what motivation does he have to sign with them right now? The team has a lot of talent, but that doesn't mean they are anywhere close to being a contender. If I were Love, I would wait to see how the team's season turns out.

It's NOT a done deal:

Good deal, that is it not done.   I would love to get him no matter how unlikely the chance is to get him.

Looks to be done now - Stein is reporting Wolves wouldn't offer a fifth, so Love signs for 4 w/ an opt out after 3. Love will sign after shoot aroun.

I'd link it, but it's on his twitter and I only have access on phone.

Think it's a poor decision by Love, personally.
