Why can't we wait until we finish the season to blow it up? Can't we just give the Big three this season and see where we end up? Win or lose, playoffs or no playoffs, I'd like to see this group finish it out.

We do have a lot of money to spend next year. it is just sad that people will resort to the idea of trading the big three just to have short term gains.

It is frustrating to watch at times but hey, we will be ultra competitive next year.

Who know, we might still see Banner 18 this year.

For the same reason we don't wait till we die to break up with a girlfriend. I mean sure she cooouuuulllldd stop spending all your money on shoes and start watching sports with you and stop giving you that p---y look whenever you get lost and don't ask for directions. But she probably won't

I'd like to see Ainge either (1) Find a way to get the Big Three some more help for one final push, or, (2) begin rebuilding now.

I do not want the status quo to continue for the rest of the season.

I say get some more help.  You can't blow it up now and become an Orlando or a PHX

We can but its Ainge's job to try to flip them for something going forward. Next year Ray and KG become cap space and a roster spot. If we cant fill the cap space with high level talent then we are going to have to find young players to develop. If Ray and KG can be turned into some level of young talent or draft picks then the Cs are ahead of the game.

While this is true, I am willing to bet most of the offers Danny will recieve won't put them ahead of the game.  They will involve taking back bad salary, or incredibly mediocre assets.

Danny needs to do whatever he can to put this team in a better situation as soon as possible.  But, as the OP said, patience is a virtue.  The C's have more to lose by making a bad trade now, than they do by waiting until the summer and having all of that flexibility that cap space gives you.

Option 1 does not seem possible here. Option 2 puts us on a track to be like Charlotte, Detroit, and Washington for the next five years. Status Quo is not ideal and we will end up with Option 2 in the long run. So I will settle for one last push with the current core. There still is at least 51 games left in KG's career.

Picture this:

first half of the season the veteran aging celtics struggle mightily.  overcoming injuries to its core and promising bench.  second half of the season things start coming together and they surprise everyone with a better than expected road record taking the 6th seed in the east.  They lose to the #3 sixers and end on a devastating note.

NOW there could be a few different endings here..... which one do you think is realistic?

#1   So hungry, just like doc at the end of last years playoffs, allen and kg commit to another year at super uber reduced salaries and they sign no one because no impact free agent wants to come to Boston.  they make the 6th seed in 12-13 a and beat the #3 seed this time, however, the younger and athletic better bulls #2 seed sweeps them out the door in the next round.  off course this ends their career and they know for a fact now there is no way they can every win another championship in their nba career.

OR

#2 In the offseason they draft well and add a couple more brandon bads to their 012-13 squad and are able to get the 7th seed in the playoffs only to lose in the first round to the bulls

Sound about right??  how about a tommy point or two?

Sign me up.  I can't help but think it's partly a videogame or fantasy sports mentality, and the fact that the C's have started the season slow is bringing it out in the fans.  People are so antsy to move past the Big 3 era, and I just don't get it.  Whoever we trade for is going to be a worse player(s) than any of the big 3.  Whatever team we build will be a worse team than the one we have now.  Yes, maybe we'll see a few more dunks, maybe a little more speed, but I just don't think people remember what it's like to be in rebuilding mode.

I hate to break it to folks, but whatever happens when PP, KG and ray aren't here anymore is going to be painful.  Enjoy a great team while you have one.

I like this line of thinking. TP.
