Savor Every Moment...

This past year has been a whirlwind for me outside of the Celtics. For one, I sold a portion of my business, moved out of California(never thought I would leave) to take a once in a lifetime opportunity in snowy Denver area, sold my home in Sonoma County and have been living in temporary housing since June. My first Celtics dilemma was my long term relationship with DirectTv and their NBA package. Of course, DT would not allow me out of my contract with them despite moving- so they put me in the pending category. My temporary housing meant no DT that I could order and no live Celtics. The strike intervened and then the free 2 weeks to watch games.

The first night that the free trial expired, I was faced with a decision. This Celtics team was a mess, what was the chance they would ever put together a miracle run and surprise us all? Probably about the same chance as Denver's weather mimicking that of San Diego. But, I have grown to love this current group of Celtics, so naturally I could not resist signing up for the Broadband package. I decided I was going to Savor Every Moment of these Celtics.

This current group of All Stars that have filled our lives with such amazing Celtics pride, desire and passion over the past 4 years. We have seen them bleed...we have seen them rise...we have seen them come together for a title...we have seen them go down with injuries...we have seen them surprise and almost rise for a 2nd time...and yes, we have seen them fall from the mountain they so valiantly climbed...Through it all, I have savored watching them play as one...Together...

Each game that I watch, win or lose, I find myself savoring every minute of the game. The short glances of what was...coupled with the long glances of what is. Despite that, I savor every moment...for with each passing moment, we run the risk of it all shifting in a Danny moment(and most likely, rightly so).

Blowing it up or letting this play out probably does make sense in both ways...but for me, I am going to Savor every moment of watching these 3 great Celtics All Stars play together at the end of their amazing run together...We cant turn back father time, but we can savor what was, and what still is for short glimpses right now. There is always a slight, although close to impossible chance Ponce DeLeon might make an appearance for this prideful group of Celtics at just the right time, but in the end, I will Savor Every Minute of the journey...no matter where it takes me.

I still think this team can get it's act together and make a run.

But because their individual offense has dropped so much it's affecting their defense and making it harder for us to score further.

Since the Big 3 had been assembled this has been a defensive team that sparked the offense and if our offense stalled we'd have 3 guys who could create a reasonably good chance of scoring.

But we don't have that individual scoring capability or even that mentality anymore.

The only guy who has shown that they can carry this team is Rondo.

And Rondo isn't at that stage yet where he can carry a team offensively on his own night in and night out.

Pierce is the guy who still can do it if he can get healthy and in better basketball shape.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
I've savored the tough defense of the 2008 champs, Rondo's triple doubles, Ray's face after he made that game winning 3, Pierce acting like an airplane when he hit that shot against the Knicks while Nate jumped on his back and fell off, KG pounding his chest, Doc dancing...Shaq being Shaq...

It was great while it lasted. Kudos for you for choosing Celtic green over green.

I like Marcus Smart

Very nice. I do to love these guys.. Well Rondo KG Ray and Pierce. Everyone else, I dont really care for.. But Like you I savored those moments since 08. To me the most special team was the 2010 team. Nobody gave them a shot and they got all the way to a game 7 but Perk going down and the refs killing us they fell short. I just can't seem to savor anything this season. Players like JO act like they are intitled to having an excuse for not playing well on offense. He sits there and says thats not my role.. Come on man thats not a very CELTIC thing to say. I feared this time would come and it has.. I have mostly savored my man Paul Pierce, the only reason I started liking the Boston Celtics back in 01' when I was 11. I love him he is my favorite player of all time. I really hope he doesn't get traded. Same goes for KG and Allen because they have just done so much to bring this franchise back to life. But like they say its so hard to say goodbye to yesterday..
