No. Absolutely not.

I will never be okay with any trade with the Lakers. Especially not Paul Pierce. I don't care if it's for Kobe Bryant.

Gasol for Pierce; get it doneee!!!

Why?

Pierce can't get to the hoop anymore.  He's going to be even worse next season...and the next season.  Why wouldnt you want to obtain one of the top positions at one of the hardest positions in the game to fill?

So, not interested in trades that would help the celtics and hurt the lakers?

Do you really want to pay a 33-year-old Pau Gasol $19 million in two years? You could do worse than Gasol, but I just think that's asking for mediocrity and stunts the rebuilding process.

I guess you'd have to consider it, though. I'm not sure the Lakers would be interested in a straight-up swap, considering if/when Bynum goes down their only two big men would be McRoberts and Murphy.

A. I don't want to do this.

B. I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS.

C. If we do this, doesn't it seem like it'd have to be a 3-team deal?  Maybe get Houston involved again and get them Pau?  If the Lakers aren't offering Pau or Bynum I can't imagine how the heck they expect to get him, and I don't think they're offering Bynum.

Not saying that I would do it, but here are two reasons I would consider trading Pierce for Pau.

1.  Depth.  We have a guy ready to step in and give us quality PT at the 3 in Pietrus which would also afford Marquis some more deserved minutes as his primary backup.  We have very little depth at the center position.  Not only this season, but generally, SF is much easier to find quality players at than C.

2.  Aiming for Dwight.  Pau is 3 years younger than Pierce and I think his game complements Dwight's much more than Pierce's does.  Pau can move to the 4 where he will attract a lot of double teams (or else score) and has great vision and passing ability to find Dwight for easy buckets.  Pau can also hit the mid range jumper enabling Dwight to isolate in the low post.  Someone posted that he/she doubts that D-12 would want to play with Dwight.  Why?  I think they'd be a very dangerous duo together.

Wasn't Danny reportedly interested in Kevin Martin a couple years back for Ray?  This is starting to oddly come together...

The other option is paying a 37 year old Paul Pierce $15 million in two years...

I think I'd take Pau.

Ideally?  No.  But it's hard to hold age against Pau when you're trading a player of the same age.  If you could combine Pau and land Eric Gordon (or a similar swingman) this off-season to be in the backcourt with Rondo...I think that's far off from mediocrity.  Also, big men seem to age a little better then swingmen - their bodies dont demand as much from them

Don't believe this.  This might be someone trying to create drama across the NBA field.  Essentially this trade would go down if the following occured:

-Pierce all of a sudden doesn't care about his legacy with the Celtics
-Fans boo him out of town (for whatever reason)
-Lakers willing to give up a lot of assets

Lakers aren't even a winner this season, so why would Paul want to go over there, make it to the 2nd round and then flame out?  So no, this is not ever going to happen.

Paul stays, thank you very much.

It would turn my stomach whenever I saw Pierce in purple and gold, but a Rondo/Gasol/Howard trio would be vicious.  Just saying.

Granted, my opinion of this trade would rest entirely on whether we land Dwight or not, so it's not worth the risk in my opinion.  But if it did work out...

As much as I loathe the idea of Pierce as a Laker, it's not a crazy idea.  I think you have to make LA kick in Ebanks or Caracter in any deal, preferably Ebanks.
