No, pierce is not done...but he looks like hes definitely not in game shape yet..

unfortunately whats hurting us is not having Pierce be the player he is

yea he just looked out of it between the lazy defense the missed layup nd the lack of shot attempts i expect him to get it together soon tho

he better, because its the main thing thats hurting our offense right now...Pierce was that guy we had who could create his own shot.

when hes a non-factor offensively it puts a big burden on Rondo to basically carry the team...because KG/Ray allen are players who need to be set up

I don't see a trade being realistic at this point. I can't see the Big 3 having any reasonable trade value whatsoever.
DKC Dallas Mavericks
PG: Darren Collison
SG: OJ Mayo
SF: Jae Crowder
PF: Dirk Nowitzki/Jackie Carmichael
C: Brandan Wright/Rudy Gobert
Coach - Rick Carlisle

MAYBE Ray Allen; I keep picturing him as the last piece in Chicago, the assassin who gets them past Miami.  Not sure what they might offer up in trade, but if anyone's got value, it's him.

Pierce could still have value, but he's got more value to the Celtics franchise long-term if he retires in green.  They want Pierce around in twenty years, coming to games, getting a standing O from the crowd, being the face of this Celtics era.  No messy divorce.

KG; nothing.  He's basically done, but I'm not sure whether he knows it or not.  He got all up in Dirk's grill on that last play, and Dirk just went right around him the other way.  He's lost a step defensively, and his scoring and rebounding is obviously down a lot as well.  Honestly, I think if he was under contract for next year as well, I think they might have amnestied him.

If we have good, young, valuable pieces to offer in a trade, KG could be useful to make the numbers work, but we're not trading for a guy like Dwight Howard.

On his own, KG's just not worth the money he's making, I don't see him as a guy who'll easily transition to a bench role, and I don't see him as a guy that contending teams are going to view as their last piece.

Well, it's the same P.P. that fought the owners tooth and nail and didn't want to give in.  He was one of the guys that was willing to go to a 66 game schedule on principle.

Old guys like him will suffer because of the condensed schedule, but at least he got to speak his mind when he walked into that meeting with KG and Kobe.  I hope he's happy.  The Big 3's final chance and they were willing to throw it away.

It feels like they already have.

actually, thats part of the reason I dont think pierce is in game shape yet...I dont think he expected there to be a season at all. so perhaps he slacked some on his off-season conditioning.

Dirks admitted he didnt train how he usually does so I wouldnt be surprised if its the case with pierce as well..then add in the heel injury and hes obviously behind

Yeah, yeah, they'll all be in shape when the playoffs start like a savvy veteran team. Too bad we'll be 30-36 at this point...

  • It's not hard to work hard.
pfft. Pierce had nothing to do with the 66 game schedule. That's on the owners. Just like the stoppage was.

But none of that has anything to do with the Celtics last championship shot. Their last shot was last year, and that got torpedoed with injuries/roster decisions.

This year was never a championship year, even before Jeff Green's situation.
