I don't think y'all get my point.. Coming off the bench is not a demotion! Notice i didn't title my post 'Bench Ray'? See Harden, Jamal Crawford, Odom and World Peace.. I'm just suggesting Ray come off the bench to strengthen our bench.. Not because he's not starting means he's not gonna finish games, right? And if Pietrus comes back ok, he can be a reliable shooter as well plus he can defend better..

Fair enough on the demotion, but I think you're overrating Pietrus as a starter. First of all, both Pietrus and Pierce are much more effective as small forwards. We really don't have a solid backup "2", let alone a worthy starter other than Ray. Second, Pietrus for Allen is going to really put our 1st unit in a world of hurt for scoring. Every team is going to key on Pierce and let Pietrus, Rondo, Garnett and O'Neal try to beat them shooting jumpers. Eck.

I do think Allen could be a killer 6th man some day, it just isn't a fit on this team right now.

ray allen requires double and triple staggered screens and the talented big 3 and rondos passing to be at maximum effectiveness.

not the correct timing for ray to go to the bench

go look at his numbers right now... shooting 60% from the 3 pointer.  you think he'll be getting the same screens from the bench to shoot like that?

Not going to happen and he can't create his own shot.

Ray has to play with Rondo so this idea is not going to happen unless Rondo plays 40 minutes a game.

From what I have seen the problem on offense is a lack of fluidity in the second unit, and a slow start by Pierce.  I am NOT concerned about these things because there was basically no training camp or preseason.

They bench will come together as the season develops.  The only ? is whether or not Allen/KG/Pierce decline as the season goes.

I do want Ray to shoot more though.

It'd make more sense to not start Pierce so the bench would actually have a playmaker on it...
