I'm comfortable with reevaluating the veto rules in the league, but I strongly believe this should be done in the offseason.  Changing a rule midway through the season is essentially changing it to redo this specific case.  The rules were followed and the trade was vetoed, and that should be the end of it for now.

I did not initially vote for a veto but if we raise the threshold and repost the Curry deal or a very similar one, I will vote for a veto then, out of support for the original decision.

Either way, let's all try and veto a bunch of rageposting the next time a controversy comes up.  This is a fun league but that was pretty ugly. Fight hard but keep it above the belt.

That's my only issue with changing the rule and resubmitting the trade as well. Any rule changes should occur in the offseason, and we certainly had a long enough offseason to do so. I have no issue with the trade, even if lopsided in Roy's favor. As I pointed out, Curry does have legit health risks. It's changing the rules mid-season that I don't agree with.

why don't we put this up to a poll on here on celticsblog? Some of the options can be:

-keep the rules as is during the season, trade is vetoed and dead, revisit the rules this offseason

-change the veto rule to 50% needed for veto, if Lucky receives 10 or more votes before the waiting period is over then trade is vetoed, if not it stands

-Roy sweetens the deal for Edgar and resubmits

and while where at it:

-vetos are only for collusion

-vetos are for heavily unfair trades

any thoughts? I'm not good at making polls, so if anyone thinks this is a good idea please feel free to do it.

GC has already been helping me out as an unofficial assistant commissioner. Without him, I'm not sure where we'd be as a league right now.

Also, just to be clear, I cannot tweak the Yahoo! settings for League Vote. It's veto by 1/3 of the league, or by the Commissioner.

My wife is about to have our first child, so my time in big disputes like this might be limited, but i'll serve asst. commish if need be in either or both leagues.

re: veto -- I'm torn. I think the basis should be majority +1, but I also think the rules as set up are the rules that we shoudl play by during a season.

I've honestly (because of moving & starting a new job) not followed the nuance of the veto rule change enough to speak with much clarity

FWIW, Lucky and I had drafted a constitution with the current rules but when I moved and started a new job and Lucky on vacation we had to set it aside.

GC's Yahoo! H2h League permanent website (offseason roster, constitution, etc.) * Lucky was framed!

I agree with both of these points, that's exactly how I feel.

Congrats GC on your upcoming first born! Don't let our fantasy bball bickering distract you from such a great event in your life.

While I obviously have a lot to say about the veto, I'm pretty burnt out on this thing at the moment.  The fun has seriously been sucked out of this league for me.  Instead of a pretty chill league made up of 20 cool and dedicated GMs, it's turned into something else for me.  I don't have a clue what the rules are anymore, or what anybody's standards are.  It feels like I've been targeted and handicapped because my team got too good, and frankly, that sucks.

But whatever.  My bigger concern is getting Edgar back into the league.  After that, we can see what people do with a modified trade.  More important than an unfairly vetoed deal, though, is that I think it's a shame that Edgar has been treated so shabbily.  People forget, but he was one of the original GMs, and essentially ran the original draft for us after CD5 bowed out.  He's paid his dues, and to be chased out of the league for trying to improve his team really disappoints me.  I can probably rightfully be accused of being a drama queen from time to time, but that doesn't apply to Edgar.  He's been pure class, and to see him cease an activity he enjoyed stings.

I don't understand why Edgar left. He made a bad trade, big deal, it happens. I've made more than my fair share of bad trades too. Sure, some people will give you flack, but that's part of the league. Move on and prove those GMs wrong in the playoffs Edgar.

I don't think Edgar leaving the league(s) had much to do with people not liking his deal. I've never known the guy to care too much about criticism. It's all the other stuff that has bothered him, I think.
