How would you respond if someone says … ‘Boston didn’t want you, Oklahoma City didn’t want you, so why is it going to work out here? Nate Robinson: Why not? Steinmetz: Well, you know why people would say that. Nate Robinson: I don’t care what they say. Coach already said he’s not worried about the naysayers and my past. He’s talking about now and the future. We’re moving forward and that’s something I love about Coach. He sees me as a player. I have another start, a second chance and this is a great opportunity. God blessed me with the ability to go through these struggles in my life and overcome them. That’s something I’m trying to do again. Just trying to prove to the Warriors and the fans and to my friends and family and to God that I can do it.

So it’s hit you that some people don’t believe in you anymore. Nate Robinson: It’s been like that ever since I was a little boy. People say I can’t do things … which is fine. It’s their opinion. Everybody has their own opinion. They’ve got the First Amendment, freedom of speech to say whatever they want and I don’t mind. I just love a challenge. I challenge myself to become a better person, a better player, a man closer to God, a better father, a better son, a better brother.

Steinmetz: I’ve got to ask you about some things that are out there about you. How about that you don’t take the game seriously enough … Nate Robinson: That’s their opinion. I take the game serious enough for me. I play hard. I’m a gamer. I practice hard. I do whatever the coach asks. I don’t have any problems. I carry myself in such a positive light so people take that as me not being serious. I love to smile, love to have a good time, love to be positive. There’s no reason to waste your energy on negative energy. I spend my time with positive energy. That’s something I’ve been doing since I was a kid.
