I didn't see the play, but if he found himself stuck, and used the backboard to get himself an open shot, I don't see that as selfish.  I feel dirty for defending Kobe, but he's done a lot worse than that.

Also, he's averaging 6.0 assists per game, which is a career high.  It's only seven games, but it just seems like an odd criticism.

Kobe is still a selfish ball hog like he's always been. He's averaging one more assist per game and one more turnover per game  while posting a near career high usage rate. He's posting a career worst offensive rating and the Lakers have a worse offense than the Celtics.

Makes you wonder how he would (or wouldn't) have adapted to Chris Paul.  It's one thing to hog the ball when the only other stars on the team are big men who are used to garbage duty.  It's another when your equally high-profile backcourt mate expects to call the shots.

Bynum and Gasol both are rather effective post players, not garbage men offensively.

I don't think Kobe would have changed much, he's been trying to play this way since he was a rookie.

If people haven't read the full article do so. He talks about playing with Paul. Says he would be taking 40 shots a night. Kobe is an all-time great but it's proven he can't do without a all-star big man. Not many can I know but Gasol was the real MVP of the Finals two years ago.

Yep.......if AB covers Kobe like that , Kobe is going to start a fight, he thinks he should be left alone to score at will, how dare somebody mess his 40 point games up. , or at least play dirty .........so then KG comes to rescue and then a fight breaks out between KG and Bynum. And KG and Bynum get tossed.

In both videos the commentators mention he has done that a lot. Smart play if he knows he can get the ball back. Confuses defense.

This country's healthcare system is really whack...how can highly paid professional athletes, who have the greatest access to the best doctors in the world allow players to play with torn ligaments in their wrist?

And apparently they told him "it won't get worse".

Sorry, if you completely tear every ligament in your wrist...there is nothing left "to get worse".

If you need injections to numb the pain....you certainly are not getting BETTER.
