Avery Bradley has proven to be a legit rotation player beyond that there are still questions. His shot still needs a ton of work and two poor to average shooters is a tough sell in the backcourt. I like his play but the tweener label will still be hard to dispell..

I thought of this thread while I was watching the game yesterday. So here I am, bumping it, because of this extremely relevant comment:

I'd like to see him get stronger.  The statement was made about defending James (never going to happen) and Wade.  I don't think a guy like Wade is all that realistic either, just because he too would just overpower him.  Wade, specifically, seems like he'd just take him in the post.

We've also seen Bradley do his work on some guys who are young or just not very good.  He'll keep getting some work, but it's all going to be against backups for now - I'm not sure whether he'll even get off the bench when we're playing Miami or Chicago.
There's no way at the beginning of January to predict that AB starts at the 2 spot against Miami in April, but here we are. It happened. I now have an animated GIF of Dwayne Wade getting smoked by a second-year, undersized two-guard.

Every time Avery pulls something like this off, it gets harder to write it off as a fluke. This kid is legit, and Danny stole him in the draft. Maybe the thread serves as a warning about counting chickens before they hatch, or counting them out in this case. Double metaphor.

I know!  Whodathunkit? (not me!)

Amazing how smoothly AB's been able to adapt to a bigger role.  I still think he'd be well-served by getting a little stronger, but he's showing that he can handle the defensive responsibilities of the 2-guard spot.  Loving the Rondo/Bradley combination - they may be undersized, but they're overquick.

it funny to look at the beginning of this thread.
Way to go Bradley, proving most (or all?)of us wrong.

"(or all?)of us wrong"

Not all. We already knew or should have known that Bradley could shoot, from his time in college and high school.

Too many people acted like he forgot to shoot and scked, without considering the effect of nerves.

A 20-21 year old on a short leash from Doc, with precious few minutes to prove himself, would make anybody nervous.

Duh.

I've been saying since last season that Bradley's upside is that he could become an above-average starting shooting guard in the NBA.  Others said he was too short and didn't shoot well enough to ever have a chance of being that good.  Bradley's not there yet, but is there anyone who will still deny that he might develop into that quality of player?

I have been converted at least to the postion that he is valuable asset to the Celtic franchise. Not just a project. I think alot of teams would love to have a guy with the "CORRECT" upbringing and in "doc" ternation  to team play and defense.

Fact that AB head is screwed on right is a BIG part of the training.  AB is probally loyal and Celtic though and though....something DWill and CP3 will never be.

I believe his shot will continue to develope , his play making as well for the next few years.

Lets keep him and see what happens.

His size (or lack there of) still makes me nervous when I think of him our future SG. HOWEVER, he's rather young and is more than capable to add some more bulk to his frame. He also has a pretty good wingspan that makes up for the lack of height. Would it be awesome if he could have a Paul George-like growth spurt and shoot up another 1.5in over the summer? Of course, but I realize its not realistic.

All in all, I'm starting to warm to the idea of him and Rondo as backcourt mates.
