and you can tell this after 4 games?? he was pretty decent against the knicks too

After 3 games I gave up on JO. Then he had a really nice game. If he continues that Ill be proven wrong about him being done, and will be very, very happy to.

And I'll still say what I've been saying. Doc needs to give post plays to JO. Dude's got no lift anymore but is a decent low post guy. If he gets effective for some stretches doing his usual jab step to fake to back down to spin fade aways/jump hook (left or right btw) it'll open up more possibilities on the offense.

The man might have lost his speed and lift, but I'm pretty sure that post up moves he was doing during his prime is still there, and can be effective. Give the man the ball down low.

I will doubt JO until the end of the season. I doubt KG too. They seem ready to fall apart. But I don't think that JO is useless or has nothing left. He is still a big body with some skill.

Nice offensive game for JO against one of the worst basketball teams I have ever seen. Hopefully he can bring it when they play some real teams. That will be the test.

I'm not sold on him this was an awful Detroit team. When faced against a good defensive team or athletic bigs Miami/NY etc he disappears isnt mobile enough and lacks lift.

The center position is still our biggest problem.

I think that JO is adjusting his game and in particular his timing to work with what is the current state of his body.  As you slow down and lose lift, you have to change the way you approach the game, the way you set up for shots, even the way you release the ball.  I know this first hand and what I see in JO is someone trying to find his timing (an off season would have helped).

JO is still 6-11 and more athletic than many of the bigs in the NBA (there are a whole lot of stiffs out there making a living in the NBA).  I think he can give us what we need out of the C position but the big injury IF will always be there.  We don't need 19 points out of him every game.  10 or so scored efficiently with the defense and rebounding he has been giving us would be fine and I think can do that.

I think he can be serviceable but Tommy H hit it on the head in the broadcast.  He said Big men need to be thrown a bone once in a while and need to have a few offensive touches to stay mentally into it.  Ideally defense would be enough to motivate but it's just human nature for him to get a little less interested if he isn't involved.  He just perked up when he scored and showed more passion and energy.

Frankly having him as an offensive option down low isn't a bad thing as KG clearly doesn't want it in the post.  JO has always been a good offensive player.  I think giving him some set plays at the start of a game is only going to make him more energized and also will require the defense to pay more attention to him which will open up things for the other fellas.

If anything I blame Doc for not involving him more offensively..

Still think JO's a below average player at this stage.  But feed him a bit and he'll give a better effort..

It was nice to see him hit a couple shots, but he was still painfully bad defensively.  It was decieving because Detroit is so bad offensively (and the refs were being very generous to the C's), but JO could barely move out there.  He was reaching on everything, and never moved his feet.

It was comical to watch him just stand there, and then see Steimsma keep his feet moving non-stop.  

I have a feeling JO is not going to fare nearly as well against the athletic big men on the Wizards.

2 bad games to 1 good one, don't know if I would be annoiting him as the second coming of Robert Parish just yet.   I thought he did shoot better but and boarded ok but he was sluggish on D.   Monroe looked like an all star vs. our bigs.

When reading on others posts throughout CB, I saw statements like 'He'll never have a good game.' So Celtic high 19 pts and 7 boards doesn't do it with bringing home a first win. Not to mention he looked young while setting picks for Ray and cutting for a bucket!

this is hilarious.  guy has one game and this thread pops up. jermaine is terrible and washed up imo. i hated signing him last yr and i still hate it.

Well, it's silly to say that he's gonna be a star now.  However, it's equally silly to say that he's done.  Clearly if he did it last night, he can still do it again. 

And to be honest, at this point, he might be in better physical shape than KG.  Keep in mind that he's younger and has less mileage.  Despite coming out of high school, he likely played fewer minutes his first four years in the pros than he would've in college. 

Also, there's a lot of incentive to get him going.  We saw what happened last year when the C's finally had a threat at center with Shaq after years of watching Perk botch open two footers under the basket.  Moreover, JO has the potential to be the most well-rounded center of the Big Three Era.  He can defend like Perk, he can hit a 15 foot jumper, he can finish around the basket, and unlike Shaq or Perk, he can actually hit free throws.  Thus, we don't have to go small at the end of games like had to with Shaq and Perk.
