Yes the Patriots were undefeated but then again they only play 16 games...and they didn't win it all. Though that doesn't mean anything in this poll did maybe burning themselves out to be undefeated hurt them eventually?

The Celtic got off to the best record in the history of basketball once having a 29-3 record. They had the single greatest turnaround in NBA history and had statistically one of the best defenses ever.

The Red Sox won 98 games in a division that had the 101 win  Yankees and were in a league with 4 team with over 92 wins. They had the third best offense in team history and had the best run differential in team history.

This year's Bruins team haven't finished the season but barring major health problems this year's Bruins team looks to be the most dominant hockey team in the NHL in possibly a decade or two. The have the most points per game, they have, by over 20 goals, the best goal differential in the league with the best GAA, best GPG, and haven't let up a goal on a power play in the last 27 man down situations. They happen to have won 21 of their last 24 games. [dang] impressive for any sport.

Patriots. They set a bunch of offensive records and went undefeated. Still the only team to win 16 games.

I'm really torn. 16-0 undefeated season is impressive but by the same token, not winning it all makes that regular season kind of hollow.

The Bruins are currently on a run similar to what that 07-08 Celtics team was on. They seem to be the best team in the league on both ends of the court and just never seem to lose. If the Bruins win it all this year and continue like this the rest of the year, it might just be them.

Both the 03 and 04 Sox were about the best offensive baseball teams I have ever seen. But the 04 team had a closer and one heck of a starting pitching staff that was healthy all year. With the exception of three straight losses to the Yanks in the playoffs, they may have had the greatest baseball season in Red Sox history.

I'm still not sure I know how to answer this though I am leaning towards that Celtic team. Funny thing is, that team isn't even the best Celtic team I have ever seen. The 85-86 team was.

First and only team to ever win all regular season games, since it was incepted the 16 games regular season format.

No doubt the Pats.

I don't think there's any real question that it's the Pats, when talking about regular season only.

They're the second team in the modern era to ever go undefeated, and the only team to do it in a 16 game regular season.  The Pats set a record for most points scored, and just crushed a lot of their opponents.  I believe they also set a record for scoring margin, as they beat 11 of their 16 opponents by 17+ points (including scores of 52-7 and 56-10).

For a regular season, no team in the history of the NFL has done better.  That's hard to top.
